Rick Majerus was inducted into the college basketball Hall of Fame. He has  a little bit of history with Shane Battier who was also inducted.

Good for him!

I remember him coaching at the Al McGuire camps and he was a great teacher!

Very passionate about basketball and the fundamentals. He made basketball come to life!

Put in the correct link for Majerus and Battier above

So you say.  Rick did some good stuff and so did Tex.  You have a high bar,

I was at one of the camps with Rick too! He and Dick Versace were in charge of the day to day coaching. Digression...I remember Al flying into Delafield in a helicopter to speak. I don't recall many details, other than Al going on and on about this kid he just recruited out of Chicago. He was talking about "Bo this" and "Bo that", and I was thinking "who the hell is Bo?" I learned soon enough...

Back on topic: Congrats to Rick! Very well deserved.

"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

12-13 and 13-11 what good stuff from Tex do you refer to?

Rick saw the end of an NCAA invite streak last 15/16 years. Not sure I'd call that success. I mean individual games? I'm sure but then you better be defending Wojo as wholeheartedly if that's your take.

Tex won the NCIT at MU.

Liked Rick a lot. Glad to see him get this honor. Sad that it's a posthumous honor.

Rick was a very good young coach at time when MU and independents were under structural change . He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.   I think if Dwayne Johnson , a 5 star recruit who was coming off a strong junior season, would have been academically eligible his senior season ;the trajectory of the team the following season would have been different and allowed Rick to weather the storm. He made the right move for himself by going to the Bucks and continued in his Hall of Fame path from there.

Tex won the National Catholic tournament and was the youngest coach in college basketball . Had previously been an assistant at K State and they hired him back and things took off from there as well

Two great young coaches got their start at MU

The rock played for Majerus?

More seriously they're both clearly HoF worthy. But neither of their MU careers were noteworthy in terms of adding things to our history books that was my only point.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
