What has happened to this team???  Where is the team that pounded Oklahoma St, beat Wisconsin at Home and played tote to tote with Duke.  And I don't care what anyone says its not just winning its how you win and for that matter how you lose.  South Florida is not a good team and for that matter DePaul is not real good either.  Nothing has changed from the UConn and Louisville loses.  If either of the last two games had been on the road the poor offensivie production would have doomed us to 2 more loses.  The games are so similiar its like watching the same thing over and over again.  I can't imagine that this team has any confidence at this point.   I don't know how anyone could truely expect anything other than another blow out at Cincinnati.
Its more than just not having a big man or DJ's wrist being hurt.  Something that was there before has completely disappeared.  I would love to think that this can turn around and they can get back to playing the way they were but it sure doesn't seem likely.
I'm officially out on the ledge!

chill -  lets wait and see what happens in cincy.  concern is good, but tied for 3rd in the BE is not ledge material.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

MU has had bad games, but not had a 'bad loss' yet this season. and by that i mean losing to a team or at a place where its considered a major upset. i mean what the NCAA committee looks at.

dont be too depressed cause if/when that happens youll really go nuts

I agree we have had a bad stretch since the N.D. win.  However, one way to look at it is that we are 2-2 over a bad stretch.

I think most importantly right now is that we have to play solid defense.  Other than UConn and West Virginia, we have been very consistent defensively.  We saw tonight that even if we play poorly offensively, we have a shot if our defense causes disarray by extending the defense, interrupted passing lanes, and forcing turnovers.

Cincy averages 66 points a game.  They are not a great offense.  They are 14th in the Big East in FG%.  They are decent defensive team, but they are no UConn on the defensive end.

If we can play defense like we have sans UConn and WVU, we have an excellent shot to win even if our offense still somewhat struggles.

I second this notion. If you need a nudge, just let us know.
But I like to throw handfuls...

I used this analogy last night, and I will stick to it.   Last night's win was like the ugly girl at the bar at closing time.   You know you can do better, you can't believe how bad it has gotten, but you will take it and move on.    It was a butt-ugly WIN last night.    We all know the team is capable of better.   They are playing poorly right now.    Either they start playing better or the season could get ugly.   BUT, we are 15-4 right now, playing like crap.

NotAnALum i totally agree with you.  I am not on a ledge however, just very dissappointed.  Teams are supposed to get better as time goes on, MU seems to regress.  Yes they are 15-4 but we ought to be concerned.  A solid game at Cincy would help a lot.  But I can't say I have much confidence after the last 4 games.

With all this ledge talk and negativity (believe me, I am buying into it a little too) I thought maybe we could change directions here a second and talk about something positive - Lazar Hayward.  Lazar was amazing last night!  Better yet, he is only a sophomore.

If he continues to mature and improve his game through his senior year, I think he has a legitimate shot at going pro and leading this team to great things in the post season (I say that because I am confident that the guards that are in the pipeline will fill in nicely around him once the Three Amigos are gone and Trevor will be a good compliment as well!)

TVDirector

if Lazar develops game to game consistancy (i.e. not disappearing or fouls getting him off the court) he has the potential to be one of the best players MU in recent MU history-
he can easily score- inside, mid and outside- the 3 pointer has added so much to his repetoire....
inside, he's not shy- and the buckets will fall.
he's been a rock for the team on the ft line, especially with others faltering so...
his rebounding has improved greatly and often leads the team.

last night he got snurffed early by Gransberry et al, but did not back down, and before you knew it, he had, what, 20?

he plays pretty steady and usually in control.

I'm like that more and more as I watch up and down games from 'the big 3'--
