Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Bulletin Board Material.

Absolutely, 5 or 6 in conference is a bit of an insult.  I think they will be significantly better defensively with a slight decline on the offensive side.

Unfortunately, I do think Myles Powell wins POY.  As much as I dislike him, he is a great player and really fun to watch.

His to lose with the NYC media hype going into the season. Plus, unless Markus is no doubt the best player in all of the country the conference will want to spread the love to Powell.

That Michigan St guy might have Howard beat but I think Howard's better than powell at least in college.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

They got Markus as Big East Player of the Year correct, but MU ranking is too low. The reporters  don't follow the team closely enough to recognize that now that those pesky Hauser's  are gone, MU is  going to be a more athletic team with better chemistry.

The word defense doesn't appear in the article, and there's no real attention to that end of the court until the final entry, St. John's, saying they lost DPOY Justin Simon. If basketball was played on only one end of the court, this might be right. Well...Seton Hall would still be way too high.

I think there are three tiers in the league. Marquette, Providence, and Villanova are the top tier. All have good defenses and enough pieces on offense to be complete on both ends. Xavier, Creighton, Georgetown, and Seton Hall are the next tier. They'll likely compete for NCAA bids, but aren't on that top-tier level. Then Butler, St. John's, and DePaul are just bad. Should be 5-6 wins for everyone else in the league to help fuel a 7-bid push.

Xavier and Creighton might be better than Marquette offensively. Providence and Villanova might be better defensively. But I don't think anyone is decisively better on both ends. That's also why I think it's somewhat silly to have Seton Hall and Georgetown ahead of Marquette. They're both worse on both ends of the floor. Don't get it.

This is going to be a ridiculously fun and frustrating conference season to watch.   True rivalries will form with the amount of quality and parity in this league.  They are going to beat the crap out of each other.  Hope MU is up to the task. Looking forward to it.

The amount of hype Seton Hall has right now is unreal. I can easily see how the Pirates will disappoint all those picking them to finish top 2 in the Big East. People forget if Powell was correctly ejected from the BET game, Seton Hall likely does not win that game and his hype dies just a bit.
