Marquette will start Big East play in Omaha, taking on the high-octane Jays. Here's what we can expect from Doug Greg McDermott's squad:

Dougie McBuckets get an extra year of eligibility?

Excellent research report on Creighton. I enjoy our series with The Jays very much, they are consistently an entertaining team to watch. Epperson health is critical to their success.

Said as much on Twitter. Their remaining options are Kelvin Jones, who was a marginally efficient big body in a bottom-six league or undersized Christian Bishop, who is more of a 3/4 but did play in the middle some last year. He'll be overmatched by some of the league's bigs (Theo John, Tyrique Jones, Omer Yurtseven) but might be their best option.

Epperson is done for the year, most likely career as well. Creighton has a body at C, not a basketball player. Nothing good has been said about him at practice. It's going to end up being a 4 guards and a 4 or 5 guards this season. Another disaster job of roster management by McDermott.

Losing both Krampelj and Froling, even had Sam just been another body, was a huge blow. Of all the teams in the country this year, I'm not sure anyone would've benefitted more from Name, Image, and Likeness rights than Creighton. It may have helped them keep Krampelj around. With him, they would be a top-20 team easily.

Uh, ok.  And what proof of that?  Doubtful at best.

Been discussed numerous places. Fringe draft picks are the exact types that would be more likely to stay if they could get endorsement deals that approach what they would make as a NBA rookie, especially if they aren't certain to get there.

Regardless, I updated the Creighton projections after the Epperson injury. I felt their season largely hinged on his success, so while they still have talented wings without him, there's too many question marks inside. Now this team looks even more like that 2010 Marquette team, though with a little more size at the point and without a proven forward like Lazar to fill in at the 5. Guessing Creighton went from being a safe single-digit seed to a bubble team with yesterday's news.

Marcus Zegarowski and Mintz are pretty much all that separates them from St. John's at this point.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

There's a rumor going around on the Jay boards that Mintz is electing to redshirt and grad transfer for his last year. Hurts the Jay's depth

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Mintz is redshirting

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Mintz not being available definitely hurts the Jays depth which they will need in conference . However, the one silver lining in the cloud is that freshman guard Shereef Mitchell has gotten meaningful playing time and has been productive offensively and adds quickness on defense.
