Anyone else pumped about buying Greenland!  Let's do it!!!!!!!

I know it isn't likely.  But I find it very fun.  We haven't had a new state since '60.  It's time.  Puerto Rico doesn't seem to want to change its status, and same for Guam.  Let's buy Greenland!!!!

And no, I haven't put any thought into it.

Sorry if this is too political.  Feel free to lock.

What's under all the ice?  I'd hate to buy it if it's going to be a fraction of its current  size in a few decades.

The good news is global warming isn't a thing to the guy whose administration is looking into the purchase...

Honestly, Greenland may be one of the richest areas in terms of minerals. They are just very hard to reach because of the ice sheet.

Good thing that thing will be gone soon!

If it actually were for sale, purchasing it would be a no-brainer.

Strategically I love it.  Remember the folks in the past that were ridiculed for buying things like Alaska (Seward's folly), etc.

As for climate change, it has always changed and always will.  What's the balance?  How much do we have to give up when others won't at all?  What difference will it make ( no one truly knows), and on and on.

I'm just thanking the Lord every day that the predictions that by 2011 and then 2014 and then 2017, etc, fell amazingly flat.  Here's an idea, when you move your chips into the middle and scream the end of the world is near with dire predictions that then don't happen, it ends up creating a boy cries wolf scenario time after time.  But yeah, climate changes, all the time and that will never stop until the giant ball of hydrogen gas extinguishes itself.

Correct.  One thing is for sure, it is out of the box and would be a grand slam if the USA was able to pull it off (very unlikely).  Can we trade Baltimore and California straight up for it?

So because the climate will always change why make changes for the good of God's green Earth hey?

Kind of like the argument that people who want to be violent will find a way to get their hands on a weapon so why bother making changes to make our streets safer and make it more difficult for a weapon to end up in the wrong hands?

Because climate is way bigger than anything we can control, and spending trillions on it to tank our economy and no proof of anything coming of it is suicidal.  Greenland was green long before people were here.  Ice caps melting on other planets without any people.  Does that mean we don't have an impact....of course it doesn't...of course we have an impact, but so do many things in the most complex question out there....one that scientists admit they don't understand, one they admit their models were not tong and keep having to "correct" and adjust.  But hey, these ideas coming out are going to make a differ nice.  LOL....to what end?

Your analogy is absurd, but I'll play along.....

We should have laws not allowing murder.  Oh wait.

Oh, and please get rid of your smoke alarms, you don't need them because the fire dept will be there in time to protect you.   Sounds dumb....for the same reason it sounds dumb that the police will be there in time...they sure as hell won't.

So you would trade the world's fifth largest economy plus a throw in for Greenland?

Well we got to 4 posts before it went political.  Now it is the crap show I thought it would be.

LOL...he said Global Warming....remember, we got rid of that phrase when it wasn't always working out form the claimants.

I just wish they would stop changing the data....we should have a conspiracy thread to talk about that.  Interesting that NOAA has gone back in time to change actual temperatures to make them cooler...literally ignoring the actual readings....because in doing that, you can then say it is getting even warmer when the data today doesn't play nice with the models that failed to confirm their early predictions.

My dad, a scientist, is rolling in his grave over this crap.  Stop messing altering the data to get a result you want.
