With the Hausers transferring and Heldt graduating, there are no scholarship players from Wisconsin on the MU roster for the first time since World War II going in to next season.

Looking at past rosters, I wasn't sure about 1985, but Pat Foley was from Michigan but I believe he graduated from Marquette High School before he played at Marquette University.

I say fill the Hauser spots with the best players available, either by adding to the freshman class or getting a transfer, but any chance someone from Wisconsin coudl take one of the spots? Might help with future recruiting in the state if we have at least one WI-based player on the roster.

Yes and it just got harder to get new kids from WI.

Some people felt this way after Maymon and Duane left. And we still got Wisconsin kids. If you don't buy into the team, then don't come to the school. It seems that neither Joey nor Sam buy into the team concept and are more focused on getting theirs.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Looks like we've effectively built a wall around the state of Wisconsin.

No it didn't.
It matters not at all.

You gotta be ignorant if you don't think we are marked as damaged goods for Wisconsin kids.

Haha. You really think Jalen Johnson,Jamari Sibley,Desmond Polk and Michael Foster care what the Hauser's think?I will answer for you.NO!!!

You gotta be ignorant if you think high school basketball players make their college choices based on the what state future teammates were raised in. One need only look at Marquette's roster over the past decade - or the roster of dozens of major programs - to see the inanity of such thinking.

I am sure Wisconsin players are concerned that D Wade wasn't from Wisconsin. Same with Crowder and Butler.

This and more this.

In all honesty, top players look at Markus and see an absolute stud. They see Wojo let him play. They think, if I'm a stud, I'll get to play my game.

When other players leave, because they weren't allowed to be the "stud". These types of top players simply think.

Then be better. Earn the status of "the stud".

Top players look at Markus and know he earned it. They want to be him.

It really doesn't matter what the reality was behind closed doors. The public perception is that Markus was 2nd team all American, he was BEPOY, he was on Sports center regularly. Taking the ball out of his hands would hurt recruiting. People leaving because they weren't Markus, doesn't hurt recruiting.

Marcus92

This is a non-story. Even at UW, less than half the roster (Pritzl, Anderson, King, Hamilton) is from Wisconsin. The Badgers have as many players from Minnesota as they do from in-state. So what?

Did it hurt UW when Sam Okey left? Not one bit.

muwarrior69

All the top Wisconsin players go elsewhere; not UW or MU.

Posters keep saying that. However, does it not depend on what the hidden story is?

Any top talent in Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine or Madison?  The larger Wisconsin metros?
In any regards, I have no problem filling the roster with top talent from Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, Utah, Arizona, Texas, etc...

The sad part, the top local recruits do not care what Wojo is saying or doing. Every one here flat accepted we could not get the top guys, sad reflection on Wojo as a coach.

Didn't Wojo land the highest rated Wisconsin recruit of the past decade?
How many top 20 kids from Wisconsin did the previous coaching staffs land?

GooooMarquette

Future in-state recruits won't give a crap about the Hausers. They'll give a crap about whether we're winning, and whether they like the style of ball we play.

Hard stop.

Marquette lacrosse player arrested for locker room sex

A member of Marquette's men's lacrosse team was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on March 3 after he reportedly engaged in sexual activity in the volleyball locker room, according to Marquette Wire's John Steppe. The player has not been identified.
The athlete claimed he was at the Al McGuire Center on campus in Milwaukee, Wisc. to do laundry at 3:10 a.m. CT. However, it appeared that he did not have any laundry with him, according to officer Carolina Seidl's incident report
The sexual activity was consensual, the female student told MUPD, though her claim did not absolve the lacrosse player from any of the aformentioned allegations.
Marquette head coach Joe Amplo suspended 19 players from the team after they lost to Cleveland State on March 9. At the moment, there is no reported link between the March 3rd arrest and subsequent mass suspension.
Marquette is 6–6 in 2019 with three losses in its last four matches. The Golden Eagles will face Duke on April 20 in Bethpage, N.Y.

Nor would they care if any other coach was here, they want to go to a blue blood where classes do not matter.
