Nothing happens in a vacuum. Here's an alternate way to ask the same question:

Name a coach who presided over a two week collapse from what could have been a 2 seed to a 5 seed and failed to prevent such widespread discontent amongst his team that two of his foundational players on a preseason top 5 team quit the program. Have any of those been fired?

Don't know. Not sure there's a lot of precedent there.

This is not a blip on the radar or a bump in the road. It is a disaster, a fundamental setback for the program.

That is not what it's based on. That guy is one of many to indicate something is up. He's the only one to do so publicly.

Thats fine, but at this point I'll trust only a competent source.  I am sure the staff has wind of this and based on the social media aspect, they need to address this sooner or later.  Mainly sooner.

On side note, if in fact such a transfer happens, it would probably be the largest loss in MU history since when Chones, McNeil and Lucas left in consecutive years over 40 years ago.  This team will be ranked extremely high, with expectations off the charts with Markus coming back, along with the others.  For two star players to leave, based upon the fact/rumor, that they didn't want to play with an All American player, who has distinguished himself as a player, student and human being is well, sort of despicable. Now, if it comes out they didn't like the coach, then another story. 

Would also be a terrible perception on the part of the recruiting aspect and with 2020 coming up, very, very bad.

Name a Coach that loses control of his team down the stretch causing a 1-6 finish, can't fix/or doesn't know how to fix the problems, which leads to 2 of his top 3 players leaving the program...In state kids at that. He deserves to stay?? I saw the problems, I said that...something wasn't right about this team down the stretch..everyone blamed Markus's wrist..That was always bunk to me..think I even asked/wondered if their were internal issues. Oh well. Thanks Wojo

If this is true, you have to wonder what their options will be.

They're both great players...but if they're leaving because Markus was the guy and they were "only" options #2 and #3, they must be looking for a program where they'd be guaranteed to be THE guys from the start.
