Just left the floor (albeit a blowout), but cameras caught him limping.

Banged kneecaps on that drive. Should have been on the bench before that.  He will be fine.

GooooMarquette

Hope he's fine. I want MU to beat them at full-strength.

Me too.

For the last several days, every time a fellow Warrior asked if I wanted St. John's to lose to DePaul, I said, "Hell no. I want our guys to beat the crap out of St. John's."

We don't need Powell to be hurt. He played big minutes in both our games against them; we won the first one and led most of the way in the second. I don't fear him; I want to beat him.

And we will!

This. I said a month ago (before final 4) that I hoped MU drew stJ in the BET. Before I said it I wondered if I was crazy, because I've always thought the easiest route in these multi-day affairs is the best, but I truly meant it.

Monkey off the back, taught them a damn lesson. Perfect matchup and perfect result.

Willard in the post game interview chat with Stone and Lavin basically said he faked the injury because his "stupid coach" wouldn't take him out in a blowout down the stretch

MomofMUltiples

I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

TallTitan34

I love that Markus dropped 30 last night and no one bats an eye.  Just another 30 point game.

Powell drops 31 and he's the big story.

BrewCity83

Powell said post game that he just stepped on someone's foot and that it was no big deal.  However, let's see if it swells up overnight....

I never root for any player to be hurt. It's bad mojo.

Glad I'm your hero, and I'm humbled by that honor.

Yep. POY speaks on the court. Wannabe POY speaks in the newspaper.

And FWIW, Powell took 6 more shots to score 1 more point. Markus also had more rebounds and assists.

To be fair, and I don't have the exact quote, but Powell said, in effect in his post-game interview on FS1 that Markus is his guy.

This is quite a contrast to any of Markus's interviews.

Markus makes Andy Griffith look like a foul mouthed thug.

I like the intensity. I enjoy when there are plenty of stud players in the conference. Makes things way more interesting. Powell is a great player. Hopefully this match tonight is redemption for the boys.

I actually think the attitude of 'stick it to the POY' plays in our favor.  Particularly since Markus seems to be not drawn into that and is talking a lot about the team.  The more Powell wants this to be him vs Markus the better.

I think the difference is that Powell scored 29 out of his 31 in the first half and the game was practically over a halftime as a result.
