Nobody in the Most Famous Arena in the World faced more pressure today than Markus.

He was just named BEPOY ... we were trying to snap a 4-game losing streak, during which he struggled and looked tired ... every defense focuses on him ... StJ, desperate to make the NCAAs, had his number and wanted to keep it that way ... every BEast tourney preview on every network, in every newspaper and on every website talked mostly about Markus when talking about MU ... Donny Marshall said before the game that Markus might score 50 ... big crowd at MSG ... lots of NBA scouts in the house.

The kid effen performed. He didn't try to force much. He got teammates involved early. He made a few bad passes early but shook it off. He made a couple of nice dishes. He scored 30, including a nice little flurry of points as we took control in the first half. And when given a chance to brag about himself, he instead praised his teammates.

It's fantastic seeing a great player and great kid rewarded for his hard work, dedication and talent.

That was a really quiet 30 to me. But damn, they played well as a team and he got a lot of his teammates more involved. Great game tonight.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Markusquette

He was tough to handle. That kiss off the glass on the swooping layup right of the basket was a thing of beauty. He had an excellent game. With teams zoning in on stopping him more than ever, Markus showed he's still an incredible player.

I'm not a stat geek but I can nearly  guarantee that StJ is by far Markus worst opponent in his career. Everyone knows they've owned him.

Under the circumstances of the late season collapse, the slow start (no early points and early TOs) I'd argue that that was one of the loudest 30 of Markus' career. I am sure it meant so much to that dude.

So proud of him

GB Warrior

The best thing Markus did tonight was play like someone who knew he didn't need to do it all. His skillset put them in position to make plays and they did before he took over in the 2nd half.
