They actually did mix in a zone-man thing for a bit when Chartouney first came in.

Not that I saw. We haven't played zone all year, mixing it in now would be a mistake.

Have to admit, I was not prepared r0r how depressed I felt after the Georgetown game.  I normally get over a loss within a half hour or so, even after a bad beat, but I wasn't sleeping at night, overcome with disappointment and worry.

What I kept thinking about was if my own funk was this deep, I can't imagine how bad it must be for the players. How the Hell do you come back from the last four games?  Even though I am probably more optimistic than 90% of Scoopers, I was convinced we only had two games left in the season.  Two horrible games.

Anyhoo, I am over that now.  We are back, baby!!!

The only way I got over it was I had to stand in a wedding about 30 minutes after they lost. Luckily open bars and your close friends getting married help you feel the good feelings. But yeah...the Creighton and Hall games were the ones that made me get reallllllllll neurotic.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

One change I saw from the first two games was having Ed/Theo guard Simon and daring him to shoot. In the previous matchups, it was Howard guarding Simon. Simon would just take him inside, post him up, and score easily. Theo and Ed guarding him allowed them to stay closer to the bucket and help against St. John's cutters. Throw in aggressive perimeter defense and cold shooting from St. John's and you have yourself a blowout.

I can't remember ever seeing a raucous crowd fade away so quickly and so completely like the crowd tonight. A few minutes into the second half, I started getting worried because the stadium got real loud, real fast. Then in a matter of minutes we strung together one of the most dominant stretches we've had all year. The crowd was a non factor by the 10 minute mark in the second half.

This was a really fun win. Much needed and well deserved. Lots of things went right. Keep this up, and we're going to have a hell of a weekend.

A reporter gave kudos to Wojo in the post-game presser. He didn't even ask a question but just gave a synopsis.  Basically, he credited Wojo for leaving a center fielder home to protect the paint and cut off Ponds from driving.

It definitely worked. Virtually all of the in the paint shots were wild one handers.

This has been MU's biggest area of improvement. Last year opponents shot 67% at the rim. This season it is 54%. Tonight it was in the 30s with the adjustments. Hella defensive game plan.

Great win last night but if we want to win the tournament we still gotta cut down the turnovers. 15 is going to be hard to overcome against SSH or Villanoxa/Xavier. Not everyone is going to shoot under 33% from the field and 15% from 3.

Seeing the title of this thread and now your war analogy, I'm kind of freaking out about a discussion I just had with a Naval weapons system engineer from NavalStationGreatLakes tonight at a bar watching the Warriors. He was talking about how he was overseeing some testing of everything from DEW (directed energy weaponry) to cruise missiles far off the coast of San Diego. He was making a point about how sad it is that some of the strongest, most utilitarian ships and planes are deemed obsolete, like frigate class destroyers. He told me how a standard old frigate proved almost unsinkable after taking everything from phalanx to DEW, to multiple Tomahawk cruise missiles. His group had the environmental clearance during testing to sink an old frigate and create a coral reef...and they basically could not get the hull to submerge due to the tensile strength of the steel and overall fortitude of the old ship.

Teams often take opponent runs as a direct hit and absorb some serious damage (we sure did during our 4game hiccup), but when Marquette plays with the kind of resolve we did tonight, we deflect energy and withstand much like these frigate class battleships. Here's to the tensile strength of team and a little belief.

The title is tied in to the title after MU lost their fourth straight.   Fore!   Sounds like four, negative connotation.    If MU had lost last night, the title would have been 'Sink-o', Spanish for '5' and a negative connotation.     No sink-o means that we did not lose 5 straight.       But if you have to explain the joke, then it probably wasn't a good enough joke.    Sigh.

Yes when simon hit that 3 pointer during their run i was concerned we may change our defense.  As good as Simon is he cant shoot. Thankfully we didnt n he air balled his next 3 and was not much os a factor after that.

Solid solid win. Sat next to the most Obnoxious of SJU fans last night that were not there to watch the game clearly, and were just constantly yelling "MARQUETTE SHOULD BE WINNING BY 22!!!!" When we were up 8-10 in first half.

My gf took a lot of joy yelling back when we were winning by 22+ every time the lead increased!

I also was surprised by the MU crowd size. But a lot of Gtown fans around us also cheered on MU. Which was nice.

My bad, Tower. So funny that I got and loved the Fore analogy as a decent golfer with a tendency for my "draw" to become a raging hook about once a round....yet didn't figure out the latest witticism.

We have shown an aptitude for resiliency and withstanding other teams' big run all season...and, apologies to Tower and Florence and her machine, but I know Wojo didn't build this ship to wreck.
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she'd be a super horse......what's this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...

Pretty sure folks who are of Middle-Eastern Heritage are considered Caucasians.

How white are you talking about?   :D
