GO WARRIORS!

Won't happen but I would have when he first became healthy if he wanted to.   But who knows

Eye

I was surprised when it was used back in December or whenever it was.

I've been thinking about that all night. I mean, for one regular season game & postseason play, seems like a waste, especially for a guy who had close to a 20% turnover rate as a freshman.

BCHoopster

Dumbest idea I have heard, with 3 -5 games left no way

Eye

Glad I'm not the only one Brew. To answer my own question, probably not for what could be as few as 3 games when you probably weren't more than a pretty long longshot to win it all. Now if you have a legit shot to win the whole thing, and in some things break the right way you might be next year, you do what you gotta do.

I know lots of scoopers think Greg could be the missing piece to make this team a final four contender, but I just don't get it. He wasn't a strong ballhandler last year, and he's had more issues with his hand/thumb this year too. He's a 2 guard. Just like Markus.

He has promise, and I think he'll be a good college player, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he'd be playing over Sacar this year. He might get a few minutes to spell the starters, and maybe he'd be getting some of Joe's minutes, but I doubt he'd be getting more than 8-10 per game.

And that's all if he had been healthy and playing all year. For him to lift a redshirt and come in for just a few games doesn't make sense for him or for the team. There's just not really any benefit to it.

You want to blow someone's eligibility for an entire season to play in one regular season game plus the postseason?  To accomplish what?  A Sweet 16?

If I'm Wojo, and I think
1) Elliott is practicing better than the other primary ball handlers
2) He's healthy
3) He doesn't mind killing a year of eligibility

YES, I play him ASAP.

But since that hasn't happened I'm guessing at least 1 of those 3 isn't true.

Jesus christ man this team is barely a round of 32 contender at this point.  How many times have scoopers thrown around the FF this year.

Absolutely.

There has never been a better point guard in Marquette history. Burn the redshirt ... and then watch him turn pro.

It's the classic "backup QB syndrome." The backup MUST be better than what we have!

All very true. Wouldn't be fair to GE and our biggest need was probably his biggest weakness, ball handling. His hand couldn't have helped, but I'm not sure we saw much that would suggest a great handle or true PG mentality.

tower912

It is probably the question I ponder more than any other for this team.    Just not out loud.   At this point, only if there was an injury to Markus and GE could step in and start.    Other than that, I think the die is cast for this year.      And ultimately, it is GE's choice.

I think early January or even a month ago it was a more valid question. I think they just hoped Chartouny would come around. At this point, hard to imagine he'd even be game ready.

A week ago at this time there was no reason to even consider it.

Markus' PG abilities haven't really changed over the course of the season, it's been the fact that he isn't scoring as much (weird since before he was criticized for being a score first PG).  Are you all forgetting his 7 TO game against Presbyterian, his 8 TO game against DePaul, or his 7 TO game against BU?  Of course, because we won all of those games, and he was also scoring in those WINS. Winning hides all faults, the same way losing brings them to the forefront.

Not in the best interest of the kid or the program. I am a big fan of Greg. however ,he would not be effective right now . It takes time to get up to game speed .

We just have to work through this speed bump.

On second hand, whoever this Elliot character is should burn his redshirt. But our Elliott should keep his.  ;D
