46-9
« on: March 06, 2019, 07:36:00 PM »
With 5 minutes left at Villanova, the score was 60-55.
With 5 minutes left against Creighton, the score was 54-50.
With 5 minutes left at Seton Hall, the score was 62-55.

Marquette lost those games 67-61, 66-60, and 73-64. Outscored 46-9 over those 15 minutes. I have no clue what is wrong with this team.

This would certainly explain how they outscored their opponents 176-160 over the other 105 minutes.  ::)

I like wojo but the roster is just so poorly constructed. They have one guard. It’s finally catching up to them.

Actually:

Nova game:  five minutes to go  Nova 12, MU 1
CU:              five minutes to go: CU 16,    MU 3 (didn't count Bailey buzzer 3, meaningless I guess)
SH:              Five minutes to go: SH 18    MU 0

Others: 46, MU 4.      Thats not real good.

Teams are pressuring us.  We have no ball handlers.  Elliot hurt and Chartouney just an absolute swing and a miss.  Its what Indiana did and i have been astounded no one had done it since.  Nova pressured us and predicatbly it worked. Creighton saw how easy it was and the rest of America now sees how to beat Marquette. Pretty simple.

So then why doesn't that wonderful head coach who constantly says "this is on me"...fix it?? I know why...because he has NO IDEA how to.

You may want to check your math and the game logs. And I didn't want to pick which points "count". Opponents shot a lot of free throws when Marquette tried to extend the games. Should those count?

Regardless of the specifics, it adds up to three atrocious finishes.

Yup, I suck at math, thats on me.  Good catch.  And yes, I am not counting a useless buzzer beater and yes I count the opposing teams free throws as points.  Both agree, not good.

Have to agree except I have seen nothing that says Elliot is the answer. He could be but did not show much last year.

Fire Wojo.

Especially if y'all think pressuring the guards is what caused what happened in the last 4 minutes.

Well, I mean, I think wojo did have a bad day managing this particular game.

I had a bad work day last Friday.  Messed lots of crap up.  Fortunately, I have more good work days than bad, so my coworkers didn't mind much.  Though they've been giving me crap about it all week.

I think ti's fair to give Wojo crap for today.  He's had more good days than bad though, so I"m not firing him.  Just giving him crap today.  Don't know why you always have to take it to extremes.

The last 45 minutes may be the worst Wojo has looked all conference play.  I mentioned it in another thread, but Gtown's extremely young backcourt has never played against Markus before.  If he comes out and has a good game, which makes it easier for Wojo to have a good game, then the message becomes clear.  Forget the three losses, focus on the win, and take that momentum to NYC.  After than anything can happen.
I'll stick with my opinion on Gold.  He'll be in foul trouble within the first eight minutes.

Yep. Read the zillion posts in the dozen-plus threads right now about how horsecrap we are. I'm the one taking things to extremes.

The cavalry is on the way (Koby & Greg), unfortunately they don't arrive until next season.  Chartouny was a critical piece to our success this season, and like a previous poster stated he was a colossal swing and a miss.

I am shocked we got to 23-4 with the construction of this roster - we have 1 guard in a guard's game!!!  We have superior talent at 4 positions on the floor, but with no point guard the ceiling is not as high as it should be.

Big East Championship season wasted....what a shame.

At the sub 5:00 minute mark to go in the 2nd, Seton Hall had a 5.1% probability of winning, per Pomeroy. While not as big of a miracle as MU at Creighton, I would consider that a saint-worthy act of god.

MU needs to get their mojo back. These games were all well winnable and arguably in hand.
