MU Women - things are not looking so good :(

Marquette stunk it up tonight at Creighton losing 71-65 in a game where the final score makes it look closer than it really was.  MU gave up a 20-0 run to Creighton in the first half.  In addition, Danielle King went down with an injury that didn't look very good in the 2nd half after landing on teammate Amani Wilborn (MU was already well behind by that point - the King injury isn't why they lost tonight but doesn't bode well going forward if King can't play any more).

Allazia Blockton who was last year's BE POY and was the preseason pick for BE POY had zero points on 0-4 shooting tonight in only 12 minutes of action before fouling out with 6:55 to go in the game.

There's a quick turnaround for MU as they have to travel from Omaha to Providence for a noon central game Sunday.  They have to win Sunday or have DePaul lose at Creighton to avoid sharing the BE regular season title with DePaul.  With tonight's loss I think MU no longer has a chance to get a 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will not be able to host.

Not really - sorry.

But this is pretty much what i was afraid of when Davenport went down (and I can still hear her screams of pain in my head a week later) - she was the player they could least afford to lose in my mind.

And this would have been the perfect time for the reigning BE POY to step up but Blockton might have had the worst game of her career tonight.  They can't win at this point with her only playing 12 minutes and scoring zero points.

Guessing they might be having travel issues - already a quick turnaround from Omaha last night to Providence tomorrow at noon central.

Danielle King can be seen in one of the pics - still not sure on her status though.

It would be great if they could win tomorrow to have one win heading into the BET and that would also mean not having to share the BE regular season championship with DePaul.  But they were so out of sorts in that game last night that I'm not feeling really good about tomorrow.
