Lawmaker Pushes Bill to Make Chicago its Own State
http://www.wspynews.com/news/local/lawmaker-pushes-bill-to-make-chicago-its-own-state/article_08c60370-2e04-11e9-b210-7f3b767b4e57.html
A downstate Republican lawmaker has introduced legislation which would make Chicago its own state.

State Representative Brad Halbrook of Shelbyville introduced the legislation on February 7th and he urges the U.S. Congress to make Chicago its own state and not a part of Illinois.

Halbrook cites information in his bill saying, "the majority of residents in downstate Illinois disagree with City of Chicago residents on key issues such as gun ownership, abortion, immigration, and other policy issues."

The bill was co-sponsored by State Representative Chris Miller of Robinson and Darren Bailey of Louisville.
Western Progressives have one worldview, the correct one.

Just what this country needs. Another rural state filled with dumbasses who have a disproportionate impact on elections due to the anachronism that is the Constitution.

The irony is that downstate Illinois gets $2 back for every $1 they pay in state taxes, thanks to all the money flowing down from the Chicago region. Whereas Chicago and the collar counties get about 80 cents back for every $1.
But nobody ever accused downstate Republicans of being intelligent.

"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me.” Al McGuire

You seem enlightened.  And you have clearly mastered the art of reason.  Too bad more people don't have the level of intellectual enrichment you have achieved.
