I honestly didn't know about the history at Duquesne. 1949-1955 were good years for the Dukes. They spent 48 weeks ranked in the top 10 over those 6 seasons. Tied for 3rd most in that stretch with Indiana. They were 1 behind #2 Oklahoma State. Kentucky was king at the time with a 23 point lead on #2 OKST.

And yet, just one tourney appearance still correct?  That is amazing.

Also to me, the biggest surprise on the list is Illinois.  I wouldn't have guessed that high for them.

Correct.  Remember that for many years only the conference champion made the NCAA tournament.  There were years USC was ranked top 5 in the country and didn't make it because UCLA won the conference.  No conference tournaments back then.

in '70-71 USC ended up ranked 5th with a 24-2 record.  Both losses to eventual National Champion UCLA.  The biggest name on the USC team was Paul Westphal, although Mo Layton led the team in scoring.

UCLA was undefeated and ranked #1 when they lost at Notre Dame in late January.
Marquette jumped up to #1, and undefeated USC moved to #2 ahead of UCLA.
When UCLA beat #2 USC they jumped back to #1, and MU slipped to #2 (where they remained the rest of the season)

It appears he was saying Marquette moved from 19th to 18th by tying the next school on the list.  The next school on the list is Notre Dame? We were taught to hate Notre Dame when attending Marquette.  If we caught them and can pass them in something that is a positive in my book.

??? I think that they only have two ('90 and '04).  But, they had a pretty strong stretch there under both Cremins and Hewitt.

If you ever get a chance, catch a concert by the Duquesne University Tamburitzans. I am a little biased as a guy with 100% Croatian lineage. The "Tammies" are comprised of talented student musicians and dancers most of whom have Slavic backgrounds. As such, the focus used to be entirely Serbo-Croatian folk music. However, the latest iteration of their show features cultural dances and music from Ireland, Central America, Armenia, Slovenia, and Bulgaria among others. To give you an idea how good they are, their recent performance at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago brought the Irish employees of the building to their feet upon the Gaelic dance segment of the show. The costumes and choreography are out of this world.

The Tamburitzans are the longest running continuous stage performance in North America, this being their 82nd year.
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she'd be a super horse......what's this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...
