Most overrated player in Marquette history! (and no, I am not using teal when it is obvious sarcasm).

2 things:

1: 90% of the people I know that went to Depaul look exactly this this kid. That school breeds hipsters

2: We can make fun of him all we want but a walk on at a High major is going to be in better shape that almost this entire board ever was in their 20s.

Or even a walk on at DePaul.

Gotta admit, I checked their roster during the game to:  1) check and see if he even was on the roster; and 2) see what the story was.

That was beautiful in its simplicity.

Am I a horrible person if I admit that the first time I saw this guy awhile back, I assumed it was some sort of "Make A Wish" situation?

Yes, that is horrible. I thought it was more of a special Olympics deal.

Wait?  He's on the team?  I can't see it.  I always assumed he was Leito's kid, why else would you put up with that nonsense?

Note to self:  Don't ever sit behind the DePaul bench at an MU game.  The kid is so distracting, you'll have to listen to the postgame show to find out who won.

I know, I was really just co-signing that my first thought that he couldn't possibly actually be a real team member.

He actually played on the La Lumiere National championship team with Brian Bowen, Jordan Poole, Jaren Jackson, Tyger Campbell etc. Either this kid is sneaky good at basketball or there is a massive talent drop off from the starters to the other guys at La Lumiere

This is exactly why I actually grabbed my phone and checked their roster.

I think he "actually played" on that team in much the same way he "plays" on this DePaul Team.  From an interview:

"Throughout high school, our assistant coach at DePaul was our head coach, Shane Heirman. He was always talking to us about bringing energy. He said whatever we’re doing, do it to the best of our abilities. Know your role. If you don’t play that much, then what are you really bringing to the team? So for us it was bring energy, clap, if the guys need anything, and as far as hyping them up, bring it to them. So I just kind of took that philosophy to the next level."

Granted, walk-ons at any major college program are far, far better basketball players than the vast majority of us ever were, and he's probably not an exception.  But I get the impression that his role at La Lumiere was the enthusiastic mascot at the end of the bench...kind of like now.

Same. MU had opened up a huge lead in the home game last year, and he was still jumping around down 28. I thought it had to be one of those cases.

Watching that highlight video of his abilities. I'm way way past my 20's and am in better shape than him still.
