Holy hell all time

Biggest game of the year tonight.  From what I've heard (haven't left the office myself, but have a coworker who went home at lunch) the streets were cleared up by lunch today so driving shouldn't be an issue.  Top 15 team that deserves the fans' support.  This isn't a great DePaul team, but it's one that has shown it can beat some solid teams already.  Let's get to 6-1.

I'm two blocks from The Fiserv...the downtown streets are plowed clean down to the concrete and traffic is moving at normal speeds.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Thanks. Helpful.

And for those thinking the weekend games have gotten too expensive in the secondary market, tonight is a great alternative.

We drove up from Chicago, we were early for our dinner plans, so drove around and down to campus for  a bit. Honestly we thought the streets were in awful shape, 18th looked it hadn't been touched.
There is hardly anyone here now.

You mean snow-wise, right?
Have some patience, FFS.

I'm used to a decent turnout from DePaul fans. This is probably the poorest visitor fan turnout so far, at least for high majors. Buffalo, K State, and Carroll were all better represented.

DePaul fans don't even show up at their own arena; why would they come up here?

I was actually surprised to see two DePaul fans in the upper deck.

So how was the crowd last night? Seemed decent and to have pretty good energy.

Mr. Nielsen

I thought the crowd was excellent. Good energy. Solid student turnout.

It was certainly the thinnest since non-con, and by a decent amount.  That said, I'd still guess 10,000+ butts in the seats.

Agreed, it was okay. Lower bowl was about 90% full, upper probably 50%.

Going to disagree with your 90% brew.  All 5 student section tarps stayed on.  And I'm not ragging on the students.  Kudos to all who came out, alums and kids alike.

It was better than I expected, given the weather yesterday.

Well, it was the first weeknight home game since North Dakota on Dec. 18. The student section was full with the tarps on. In the 2k area of students at the game.

I suspect that there were a number of tickets sold that went unused, based on where some of the empty seats were. We were there about fifteen minutes before game time, and the crowd was really thin at that point. Many students came in after that, but both sides had the tarps out.

MU82

Had the best seats I've had at any big-league sporting event in many, many years: mid-court, row 5 on same side that the teams sit.

View, obviously, was amazing. Jalen Johnson was in my row, sitting a few seats from me and my buddy.

At times, I was one of maybe 3-4 people in the entire section standing and cheering after a good play. When we started to get a good run in the 2H, I stood and clapped and Wojo just then waved his arms to get the crowd going. So I waved my arms too, and my lazy-ass buddy stood up, and so did lots of others. Wojo (and I) tried it again a few minutes later to not-as-good results. The "sweater vests" were exactly what I remember making fun of when I was a student attending games at the Arena.

All in all, I thought the energy was better in Section 224 (where we were Sunday). Folks stood and cheered much of the game. But Sunday also was a far bigger crowd, so maybe it just seemed more energetic. These were my first two Fiserv games, so I'm not claiming to be any kind of expert.

Truly enjoyed the experience. Probably won't get back this season, but hope to make a couple of pilgrimages each year.
