We don't take the big first-half lead without Sacar playing superbly, but it's hard to ignore Markus' all-around production.

Markus would have easily had a double-double if Ed could make a layup without traveling today.

I go with Markus, but Sacar would be a fine choice too.

Also, thumbs-up to the Hauser who was on today.

Have to go with Sacar he gace us the big lead in first half. His scoring and driving opened up Markus

So close it's almost a tie so either answer is fine.  Sacar by a nose.  That cut to the basket as Markus found him off the baseline drive was exactly how we need to play.

Sacar

Markus wasn't very efficient today so couldn't give it to him.

Markus had an eFG% of 61.9%. He was very efficient today.

Another point I'll add in the Markus column, the 5 turnovers look really bad, but I believe two of them occurred because he was given the ball with less than 3 seconds on the shot clock and was forced to make something happen when there was nothing.

Agreed. And not only is Markus responsible for every single one of the end of shot clock scenarios, he has the ball in his hands 75% of the time and it's really him that opens up everything for everyone.

Sacar was great today but he was partially great because of Markus. Markus was great because of Markus. If Markus wasn't so consistently great he'd win this vote going away.

Symir Torrence?  Most exciting MU play of the day.

And one where Chartouny got tripped by the ref.

Upon 2nd watch I'd lean even more towards Markus. He had a few bad turnovers but more great passes. Most importantly, Sacar's points were mostly created by good passing or good seals by the bigs. Howard created everything himself and created a good chunk of Sacar's points as well.

Sounds like Sacar only gets the easy buckets!  :D

Yes that happened a few times today.  We need to get out of the mode where with 4 seconds left in the shot clock and no where to go from 15 feet we thtow it to Marcus 30 feet away from the basket.  Shot fake, step thru, fade away do something instead if having Markus catch it with 1-2 seconds left. Face guarded and 30-35 feet away

I know I'm way off topic but there was one time when the clock was running down, Markus had an 'okay' look, but chose to get it to Joey with about 2-3 seconds left.  Joey had a 'What the eff do you want me to do with it?' look on his face.

I think with the defense on Goodin Markus gets the nod. It's close though. Sacar almost singlehandedly kept us in it in the first half.

Agree that Markus wins it.

Disagree that Sacar almost singlehandedly "kept us in it" in the first half. It would have been close (at least closer) without him but we certainly wouldn't have been out of it.

Kept us in it was a poor choice of words. Singlehandedly kept us in the lead would have been better.

And one of them was a pass that would have been caught had a ref not tripped Chartouney.

Can't believe it's even in debate for those that saw the game

Joey was very good. Markus did things he doesn't do too much like make a lot of good passes and rebound big

But sacar was the difference today. Dude stepped up like we wouldn't have expected. Scored inside, scored outside, played good defense. Scored when we needed him to. Sacar your table is ready and we need you to keep filling it with empty plates

Sacar was the difference.   26 from Markus is the norm, nothing special.

Yeah 20 on 14 shots with 7 boards and 0 TOs > 26 on 21 shots with 5 TOs (even with 8 dimes).

Plus the energy.

I wanna say sacar. The kid got a 20 second standing ovation from Jae after his dunk and he brought the energy to the first half.

Only the mods know the exact formula for SOTG, and that is locked in a secret vault buried under an undisclosed Arby's.  However, IMO, the criteria should be who had the biggest role in helping MU win, not who performed the most above their expected average.
