Wondering what we can expect for a turnout on Friday night given holiday break for the students. Obviously a huge, huge game and would be great if we could get that Saturday afternoon atmosphere but I'm pretty skeptical. I will be there!

Mr. Nielsen

It's part of the Wisconsin mini plan. Also, I can't find a link but at the game last night you can buy a student section ticket for $10. If people who have a ticket shows up, there can be a big crowd. With the game being played on a Friday, will help the cause for making people show up.

Atmosphere will be more subdued without the students, but I'd expect a crowd in the 14k range.

I think the atmosphere will be pretty good. Sort of like the Xavier game over break in December after Christmas.

Buffalo "sounds" like a cupcake and I bet 80% of fans don't know they are ranked.

It's a Friday during December, holiday parties are planned.  Students gone.  Too many people with Arby's coupons that expire on Friday.  I will predict a pretty light crowd.  13k announced, 7k butts in seats.

Lots of us traveling on that Friday. Frustrating as I was really looking forward to going. Be extra loud those who do!
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Trying to think what being part of the UW pack will mean for attendance. Will it reduce it due to all the Badger fans that bought the pack for the UW game? Did they resell the tickets to MU fans? On the other hand, the ratio was pretty good of MU to UW.

Agreed.  Just like the Belmont game a few seasons back... not only was it a lid-lifter, but at the time it was the least cakey of the buy* games MU had seen in a while (result notwithstanding), and the crowd was underwhelming at best.

*Technically not a buy game, but using "buy" in the context of "not a home-and-home or conference vs. conference match-up."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

We will be in attendance, but talking with a few folks last night that zero idea Buffalo has a good team. Would not expect many walk ups for the game. Hope I am wrong. Energized crowd on Friday would go a long way.

Oldgym

Will be there.  Expecting ~10K butts in seats, which would be a near-sellout at the future Town Bank Ar...never mind.

If you're a season ticket holder you get free additional tickets to one non-conference game, including Buffalo. If you haven't used those yet you should invite some others and get them in the arena!

80% is harsh.   I think you are conflating MU fans and ND fans.

Mrs. KampusFoods and I will be there as part of the UW 5-game mini plan. Expecting a good but not great turnout.

Well, it means most pairs in the lower are sold. Best way for people to be in the lower bowl is "Be the Student Plan" I think most Badger mini plans are bought by MU fans. At least the higher price seats. Those that want to resell on stubhub or whatever I would think would sell for a fair price to get some money back from their plan.

It will be seen as a fun holiday event and I expect most of the season ticket holders actually show up. I think a fair amount take advantage of the comp ticket if they haven't used it.

If we have a basketball educated fan base as we and others claim, they will know this Buffalo team is very good.

They beat Arizona in the NCAA tournament last year, #14 this year with wins at West Virginia and Syracuse.  The next three days the PR folks should be pushing that aspect hard for those that aren't so up to speed.

Exactly. It would be embarrassing if the reason an MU fan didn't attend the game was because "they weren't aware Buffalo was any good." The crowd may be affected by travel/holiday plans, etc but the quality of the opponent should only help increase attendance.

It's a huge game for our team. One I'm very excited for.
