Men and Women in top 25
« on: December 10, 2018, 09:34:12 PM »
Just curious and no chance to research... When's the last time our Men and Women were both in the top 25?  (and please don't say 3 weeks ago) - has there been another year when both teams were ranked at the same time for any substantial period?

Oh, and congrats to the women for being ranked higher!

I don't know for sure and can't find exact stats.  But the only seasons I can recall the MU Women's team being in national rankings before this season was 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2017-18 (although that was short lived - they fell out of the rankings within the first few weeks of the season).  I'm not sure how much the Men were ranked in the 06-07 and 10-11 seasons.

The MU Women better stay in the national rankings for this whole season with the 5 super talented seniors they have :).

Fun random fact from the 2006-07 season - ESPN accidentally leaked some of the pairings early for the NCAA Tournament the day of the Women's Selection Show.  When they released the Women's ESPN coaches poll that day, it listed next opponent and all those listed opponents matched up with the bracket that was announced later that night.

Last year, the men's team was not ranked

2010 - 2011, the Women were ranked between 20 and 25 from January to March

The men's team were only ranked once ... the last ranking of the year because they made the S16.  So, no overlap.

2006 - 2007

The women were ranked every week between Dec 4 and the end of the year.  Peak was #16 the week of January 29, 2007

The men's team was ranked every week but Janaury 9, 2007.  They peaked at #8 the week of November 8, 2006

Bottom Line

The only times both the Men's and Women's team were ranked the same week:

* Most weeks between Dec 4, 2006 and March 2007
* Three weeks ago
* This week
