You have never had a child in youth soccer, correct? Family friends who love the game complain about the politics involved. Youth soccer in America is about who you know.

but seems that theres plenty more top leagues that one could garner a following and earn a living playing in as opposed to basketball.

I was going to argue hockey initially as well.
