Quote from: JWags85 on June 27, 2025, 01:12:44 PMMy sister and BIL are going to see the Cardiff show.  My sister is 5 months pregnant and its her last significant trip before the baby.  She wouldn't go except that its a gift for my BIL's 40th so its gonna be a cool trip.  My jokes about the Gallaghers getting into a huge fight over Man City's activity in this summer's transfer window leading to a break up and show cancellation were not well received ;D

Gaslight Anthem and Counting Crows is just such a weird pairing to me.  A band that charges hard through tracks compared to the meandering wandering live shows of Adam and crew, I can't see the fan overlap being that cohesive but I'm always happy to see them have big shows and big success.  Maybe him talking so much during shows was appealing to Adam Duritz  :)

I'm still deciding if I go see CC on July 6 in Bridgeport.
It's been quite some time since I saw them live.

Quote from: Jockey on June 27, 2025, 12:32:05 PMAllison was simply outstanding. We were standing right next to her daughter (we didn't know until she went on stage with her mom for Nightflyer).

JT came out and did one BoC song - American Flowers. I talked to him for about 5 minutes after the show and he was unbelievably gracious and friendly.

Wow, what an experience! She was great, the sound was dialed in, the song with her daughter was fantastic. Definitely a highlight for me so far.

The Killers at Summerfest was excellent show. High energy and the band left everything on stage.  Everyone was on their feet the whole time and had a great time.

The Killers are not touring much this year except for Vegas shows and corporate gigs. Nice get by Summerfest.  They did salute the Violent Femmes by playing a cover of American Music on the 40th anniversary of the VF playing Summerfest.

I saw the Killers for the first time a few years ago and kept asking myself "why have I not seen th we guys live before?" They're awesome! Theyre doing a number of festivals too. Killers and Weezer in Fairfield, CT in September could be an epic show

Was a great show, they definitely bring it. I was jumpin during Mr Brightside like a fanboy and loved the Femmes cover. First time seeing them live, which is bonkers, glad I did. Little surprised they ended so early, maybe full on rock shows surpass a decibel level or something. Caught some Billy Corgan and Offset on my way out, which was an unintended, unexpected win.

Hah, for sure. I was telling my wife Mr Brightside is like Sweet Caroline, a white persons anthem. I also read somewhere about the Killers lyrics being absolute gibberish, maybe it was in this thread, and I can't hear the songs the same. Still rocked tho.

Toggling between 24 Frames and Stockholm this morning, I think I'm resigned to the fact that I am now a Jason Isbell addict.

Top of my list, as well. Haven't seen a show yet though.

That's right. I was thinking Fairfield because my buddy lives there and if I go I'd crash with him.

Fontaines DC.  If you are interested in a modern take on an 80's Smiths/Cure style mash up.

They do a great show. Would recommend the clockworks for something similar just a lot more underground. Which Fontainnes had more songs like Big and Boys in the Better Land.

Conversation at the Sultan Household last night.

Wife: Did you see how many of our friends were at the Morgan Wallen concert at Camp Randall?
Me: Yeah. I really don't know much about her.
Wife: He's a guy.

I imagine this isn't much of an "EDM" inclined group, but I still need to preach the gospel of Fred Again.  Just a brilliant producer, DJ, and sampler with a really eclectic sound and some of the best live sets Ive ever seen.  His Boiler Room set on Youtube is an all timer.

Been one of my absolute favorite artists for 5ish years now.  First stumbled upon him just after COVID where he did these train chronicles on social media where he'd take a train from London to a further part of the UK on a daily roundtrip and produce a song per trip.  Then he released a really interesting album called Actual Life where he built electronic tracks around voicemails, voice memos, social media clips, etc...

But his backstory/career arc is fascinating.  He's the offspring of literal nobility.  Both parents come from historical landed families, his mother's side is a plethora of Earls, Barons, and Dukes.  His neighbor as a teen was Brian Eno, of Roxy Music fame and one of the pioneers of ambient and electonic music.  He started hanging around his studio, became his protege and started working on his own sound and producing for others.  Won major plaudits within years.

He started doing it in the background, writing and producing for a number of years, for a TON of major artists, before every releasing solo work.  Still, even with the awards and success/recognition before, its perfectly set up for a eye rolling nepo baby situation...EXCEPT he's one of the most beloved and respected people in the UK music scene across genres.  He's done a ton of production for the grime/hip hop scene in the UK, for huge pop names who could work with anyone, and for more underground artists who don't care for famous name recognition.  By all accounts just a lovely guy, immensely talented, who is a joy to work with.  He's truly a unicorn.

I don't even have track recommendations cause everything he does is special.

Fred Again is awesome.  His work with Sonny is great as well.  Also a plug for the Quest for Fire youtube video Sonny did is great.

Have you ever listened to Chromeo, Wags?  It isn't EDM, but it's still poppy dance music.

Yea he and Sonny cooked up some great stuff.  Was super bummed I didn't get to see them on the tour with Four Tet.

Love Chromeo, Ive seen them a half dozen times or so.  Their show at HOB in Chicago was one of the most fun live concert experiences Ive ever had.  Self labeling themselves a "thugged out Hall and Oates" is one of my favorite descriptions ever.  And also perfect cause I love Hall and Oates more than most anyone else in my age demo.

Also guys with great lore.  My cousin actually had Dave Macklovitch as a professor at Barnard for a semester years ago.  She is kind of an odd duck so naturally she had no clue.  His younger brother, A-Trak, is also one of the legends who got me into EDM.
