So we've had our test drive - who do we roll out against the real competition?

Starters

C - Theo
F- Joey
F - Sam
G/F - Sacar
G - Markus

Bench (in order coming off)

Jamal
Morrow
Chartouney
Bailey
Heldt

I think all 10 guys get in, but it will be single digit minutes for Heldt. Fouls of course could change situation.

No complaints here. As has been said a ton, starting doesn't matter. Keep bailey starting. Bring Joey and Jamal off the bench as super subs.

Big Papi

I don't know who he is going to start but Marcus, Sam and Sacar are going to get close to 35 minutes of playing time barring foul trouble.  The rest will be decided on matchups and who is being successful on the court.

GGGG

And I don't think Joey and Sam should start together.  I think they are better paired with some quickness on the floor.  That is likely why Bailey has started with Cain coming off the bench.

Heldt really looked awkward moving laterally yesterday.  Wonder if his inured toe is bothering him yet.  In any event, his play really does not fit this year's team.

I would agree.  Sam and Joey would be mostly at the 4 and 5 playing together.

I think we see a lot of Ed in this game. Indiana will often drop to a small ball lineup with 6'8" 232 lb Juwan Morgan playing the 5. I think Morgan is too quick for John/Heldt and too strong for Joey. I think Ed is the only one with a solid chance of slowing him down.

I think Sacar gets the assignment of slowing down Langford. Stop Langford and Morgan and you win this game. They are deep but the rest of their are really just window dressing.

My guess:

Markus (guarding Phinesee)
Sacar (guarding Langford)
Bailey (guarding Green)
Sam (guarding Anderson)
Morrow (guarding Morgan)

There will be healthy doses of everyone. Indiana could go 13 deep if they wanted to. Will need to stay fresh. I have really been impressed by Cain and John so far.

I agree. I think we see 20-25 minutes of Ed. I think his matchup on Morgan and us containg Romeo is the key to this game.

If Indiana shuts down Markus...forget it. It was a one man show this last game.

Yeah, because that's what the game gave him. He was hot and they couldn't guard him.

Markus doesn't have to put up 37 pts every game

More interesting question than 'who starts' is who will be on the floor with two minutes left in a tight game.

I'd start...

Markus
Anim
Sam
Cain
John

Bailey has been fine, but Cain just seems to be a bit more in the flow of things out there, and his rebounding is really impressive. Off the bench in order...

Morrow
Joey
Bailey
Chartouny
Heldt

fjm

I'm starting chartouny in this game. If Langford is what people are saying, I'm starting chartouny on him. Now I know that's not gonna happen. But chartouny's D is warranted. Although I know Sacar has been real solid so far on D, I just would rather not even let Langford get started.

If this were January, I might agree. Based on the past two games, Anim is our best perimeter defender and has been proving it. I think Chartouny is still pushing a bit much, especially on the defensive end. That's the kind of thing Langford could really exploit.

I would keep starters where they are at.  Sometimes guys hear their names and they are too amped up. If you are used to coming off the bench, then do it, but play them more if they are playing better.

Well we've had two different starting lineups in our first two games, so I'm now sure we've really entrenched anyone in that regard.

taking the conservative approach but having it both ways.  ;D

Absolutely, especially if this game is as close as we think it will be. GO MU

Does JC have any steals this year?  I thought that was his specialty.

He has one. He's been involved with some others where I think someone else got the credit. He's been solid on defense but his offense has been a mess.

It seems he is afraid to take a shot. I wonder if is expected to be the distributor rather than take a shot even if the situation calls for it. I do think he'll settle in as it took some of our other senior transfers awhile to acclimate to their new team mates and style of play.

Yes, he has 4 points from free throws, no field goals (0-5) made and 5 turnovers.  Hopefully turns around.
