1.   Wow, was that a sloppy blowout.    Sometimes, choose the simple pass and not the hero pass.  And, oh, yeah, catch the ball!
2.  Markus is ok, I guess.
3.  I wonder if Matt is still recovering from his toe injury.    Falling down while defending a Bethune-Cookman reserve is not a good look.   Maybe he just isn't back up to speed.
4.  Joe Hauser still looks a little slow.   Brendan  still looks like he missed two years.
5.  MU can defend the heck out of cupcakes.
6.  MU didn't have problems with the Pope.   Or a doofus.
7.  B-C had a better Bailey than MU.    Ours still has more upside.
8.  If Markus had sat out today, what would the result have been?
9.  As bad as Chartouny looked every time he passed the ball, he looked completely comfortable against the press.
10.  Sacar sure is seeing a lot of minutes.   A year ago, he wasn't as willing to push the ball after getting a defensive rebound.
11.  I haven't seen the numbers, but it sure seems like B-C got a lot of offensive rebounds.
12.  Maybe Bethune-Cookmand and UMBC are a lot better than Montana State, but IU looked a lot more ready to play than MU.    I am not feeling as optimistic as I was prior to the season.     The games against the big boys are coming.    There is a lot to tighten up.

Jockey

It's nice to see us finally treating cupcakes the way they were meant to be treated. Way too many close calls the last few years.

Theo and Ed will handle the center position, along with Joey.  Heldt probably see minimal action, he looked terrible today.

Sacar, Howard, Sam, Theo/Morrow and Joey going to get the minutes, a lot pending foul trouble. Everyone else up for the remaining minutes.  Cain has played well in his minutes so far.

I am guessing Indiana is going to press MU backcourt, so they better get used to bringing the ball up.  It may cause some major issues.

Joey is extremely impressive and with game experience is going to be really good.

In Joey,  I saw a very talented young man who was prone to hero ball. I suspect he still hasn't fully transitioned from SPASH to the Big East. At times he can shoot and play with the best. At times, he looked like Henry Ellenson at his worst.

Otherwise, the turnovers today and the let-up in the second half bothered me. We should have put 120 to 130 on these guys and we should have worked to get more scoring balance. Play like this next week and our undefeated season will be a memory.

I don't think that Joey has been that impressive.   Or Bailey.  Or Morrow.  Or Chartouny.     Hey, what is the common denominator?   It looks to me like all of the newcomers are pressing, like they are trying to instantly be a top 10 team and make plays they think a top 10 team makes.   Instead of making the simple plays and 'letting the ball find the best shot.'

'letting the ball find the best shot.'

Wojo made that comment in the huddle today. Brother Tower, you're absolutely right. We got too many guys trying to do too much. That's the one thing that scares me. If we play as a team, Kansas had best look out. If we play like we did today, we'll be burnt toast.

that was game...umm, #2 of the season.  yes there is room for improvement, absolutely, but let's not get too critical yet

Are Morrow and Chartouny still trying to find their spot on this team, or are they just not as good as we thought? I would have thought Morrow would be leading the team in rebounds and Chartouny would be leading the team in assists after the first 2 games.

Herman Cain

We won and Markus found his shot.   So all is well.

I am sure the coaching staff will have the team working on better ball movement between now and the Indiana game.

Every single player on the team is trying to do too much. That is to be expected. The expectations are high, we have the new arena etc.  With time we will have better team work.

Joey tries the coast to coast stuff too frequently. Might work occasionally now, but won't come Wednesday.

Oh, did you get that from Wojo's huddle like Bardo mentioned he did.

We look like a team that hasn't spent much time developing the offensive end, and I am ok with that. Defense needed to be a focal point. There doesn't seem to be much flow or even a plan on the offensive end. A lot of individual action and not much ball movement much of the game. When the ball moved we had wide open 3s. I do think that end will come.

Other observations:
Cain's shot looks so smooth.
Theo looks much improved.
Morrow seems to be struggling with catching/grabbing the ball and doesn't seem very explosive. Love having the big body though and he seems to know how to use it.
Chartouny looked afraid to shoot v UMBC. Now I know why. I don't understand that-he was a decent shooter coming in. Hopefully the confidence will come.
Markus was Markus. Was concerned he was going hero ball but was on fire and did try to execute a few passes we didn't connect on.
I really hope Heldt can contribute. He doesnt seem to be moving well.
We'll have to play a lot better to win at IU, but should be a good test.
Love the depth of quality talent on this team.

Yes, I am quoting Wojo's huddle.    I lose track, are we allowed to take them seriously yet?   This is one of his catch phrases, like 'paint touches'.

Are we really complaining about our freshman going for 11, 7, and 6 on 50% shooting? Talk about high expectations. Yeesh!

Chances Theo goes the entire season without giving up an and-one?  He seems to have the whole "if you get beat, lay em out" mentality down.

I liked that we held BC to >30% from the field and >20% from long range. (Although they don't look like a good outside shooting team to me.) Scoring 90+ and shooting 50% on 3-pointers, the offense should be fine. I'm also not concerned about Joseph, Ed, Joey or Brendan. There's room to improve — but they all played hard and made contributions, especially on the defensive end.

21 turnovers is concerning no matter who the opponent is. That just won't cut it.

I'm a strong member in the camp of "They will be Just Fine".   Like Howard. they will fine their game, just need a little time.

Remember when AR appeared he took a number of games before he hit his stride.

We didn't have to switch to a zone against our cupcakes.

Floorslapper

22 Turnovers against a team of this caliber is a little concerning.  Yet we still put up 92 points.  Incredible.

I think everyone should just STFU about any negativity/criticism around Joey.  He's in his 2nd college game for God sakes. The kid is a major talent.

Agreed. 11 points 7 Reb 6 assists. What warrants the criticism? granted he turns it over too much but that will improve. I am delighted in what i see so far.
