With him, I think we can beat UConn.  Without him we don't have a chance.  I really hope this isn't a long term thing.

Without him we don't have a chance?  Come on.  Its about playing as a team not just one player.  Acker is a more than serviceable backup if DJ can't go on Sunday.

WashDCWarrior

Agree, we'll need him healthy to be at our best, but to say we can't win ONE game without him is ridiculous.

Just ask all the posters who said we're a better team without him.

And the fact that UCONN took a bit of a licking tonight while playing at home to a Providence team we killed.  We definitely can win without DJ, but not if we shoot around 35% and don't rebound the ball.

Bob "Big Daddy" Wild

I hope DJ plays for his D more than anything - Price will abuse Acker if he plays extended minutes.

Our team is an enigma this year...we almost beat G'Town on their floor, then we lay an egg to Providence on our turf. Just never know which UConn team will show. With our without James, I'm expecting a great game.

To the gentlemen who thinks our losing to Providence and you beating them handily means something.....I wouldn't think that way. There is no worst way to judge how a game will play out than looking at like opponents.

Good lucK!

PC made 14 three pointers to win the game.  Hopefully we can knock down more than 1 in this game

The fact that it took even half of that number to win the game doesn't bode well for a poor-shooting MU team!

Well we average 7 makes per game beyond the arc so we're right there.   ;)

Even with the horrible 3 point shooting against Louisville we are still ranked 5th in conference against conference teams. So hardly a poor 3 point shooting team.  Overall FG% is another story but FT shooting % we are number 1.

Daniel

If we hit our average on 3s, we are in the Louisville game - maybe leading since that opens up the inside game.  We are in any game when we hit the 3s

bilsu

I think Uconn is beatable with or without James. We need to beat their 7'3" center down the court and we need to be able to hit 3's. While James is a great player we do have Acker and Culliban, so I am not that worried about James.

SoCalwarrior

I'm not saying we can't beat UCONN without James, but you guys are crazy if you're not worried.  Without James we're NIT bound.

Exactly. I also don't think people realize how important James is on defense for us as well. He's a great defender. Cubillian and Acker just don't have even close to James' overall ability folks. The only thing they have on him is three point shooting. As far as the UCONN game, they're very athletic and can play very fast.  Not having our best athlete in James would be a huge blow. Also, Dyson is a great PG from UCONN. He can get in the lane with ease and he can really stroke it from three.
