One key attribute about Matt Heldt over the years is his consistency. Each year he has shown consistent improvement, both year over year and also throughout the year. His improvement is both in his game and his strength and conditioning. While the pace of improvement is slow,  it is steady . He is highly reliable and dependable for what he is asked to do. There is tremendous value in having a player like that at his height and size in a conference like ours. Also one subtle thing, as a senior I think he will be getting the benefit of the doubt from the league refs who have seen him play over the years.

Well, at least he learned to [usually] not set moving screens, huh?
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

What was a moving screen as a freshman is now as a senior a beautiful mountain for M2N and Sam to shoot behind.

Look, Matt Heldt is a good guy and I think he has shown considerable improvement in recent years. He's the type of person we love at Marquette. Dedicated. Focused and a Team Player.

Question will be come January whether the Matt Heldt lovefest will continue, especially if he gets roughed up inside a time or two by our beloved adversaries.

I'm glad we have him but Morrow and Theo are our primary inside options. They're pretty tough bodies!

Supposedly Matt was supposed to be in New York today for Big East media day and turned it down because he refused to miss class when he doesn't absolutely have to. Classic Matt Heldt

Wow.  Speaks well of Matt, but Jesus, you'd hope his parents, or Wojo would have forcibly intervened:  "Son, there will never be another senior year, on the Marquette University Basketball team, nor another opportunity in life to go to Big East Media Day.  The classes you miss Thursday, will be there again Tuesday.  Go enjoy a once in a lifetime moment in the sun with your fellow selected teammates."

He didn't get roughed up last year against Happ and Delgado.......Matt was plenty tough .....he just isn't quick. Offensively he was much more efficient then Theo. He didn't turn it over and scored very effectively when he shot the ball.

The troubles he had were trying to guard mobile bigs off of high ball screens.......Theo also had trouble in that area.

Ed much better suited to guard teams that play small at the 5.

Now Theo certainly has a higher upside.......hopefully we see steady improvement from him this season.
