Per John Rothstein on Twitter:

"Source: The Big East and Big 12 have officially agreed to an annual "challenge" between the two conferences, starting during the 19-20 season. Official announcement expected soon."

Personally, I think having a chance to see West Virginia on the schedule again would be great. I don't think the official announcement is out yet, but I'm excited to see how this shapes up.

Great new for the conference.  As much as I'd like to see WVA come to the 414um, I think the first year it's gotta be Huggins back in Cincinnati again.  Too good of a story not to do in the first year.

Any matchup with Huggins is a good matchup.

Let's remember to give Turners a month heads up to stock up their inventory.

Would MU's return game at Kansas State next year be considered part of this challenge or would this be IN ADDITION to an away game at K-State?

My guess is it would be in addition, since those games are contracted differently

Either we won't have a gavitt game or we're gonna have one tough schedule between UW, KState, Gavitt, and now this challenge. Not to mention whoever's in our thanksgiving tournament

UW-Madison and K-State on the road. Guessing we'll have a Gavitt Game at home and this challenge. Plus 3 neutral site games in Orlando.

If we have another home and home start along with one decent cupcake (ala Vermont, Fresno St, Buffalo) that's a strong start.

Any match up will be tough, but I'm sure Coach Wardle will have the Warriors ready to go!

There's a number of potential intriguing matchups for television.

TCU/Villanova (get Dixon and Wright back to coaching against one another)
WVU/Xavier (get Huggins back in Cincinnati)
ISU/Creighton (get McDermott back against his former school)
UT/Marquette (Shaka almost became coach at MU)
Baylor/Butler (Scott Drew went to Butler)

Hopefully better than that 2003 game. Still gives me bad flashbacks.

Never seen a team so unprepared to play. It was like it was the 1800s and film was not a thing so you never got to see your opponent before you showed up to the gym. You mean a Roy Williams team gets out and runs?

Mu82 will lose his mind. Win or lose it means Shaka will be discussed for the next 5 years.

The Big 12 and the BIG EAST are already engaged in home-and-home matchups for the upcoming season due to some pre-existing agreements. The games are: Kansas State at Marquette on December 1, Villanova at Kansas on December 15, Creighton at Oklahoma on December 18, and Providence at Texas on December 21. Return dates in these matchups will be included in the 2019 series, the inaugural year of the arrangement. The complete slate for the first year will be announced in spring 2019.

That blows that already signed series will count part of this event in 2019.

Interesting tidbit from the ESPN article on this:

"Ten games will be played every year at five campus sites in each conference"

So it looks like 5 of the games each year will be considered a "neutral site" game?  Or am I missing something here?

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/25070690/big-east-big-12-agree-series-games

Edit:  Nevermind, I did not read this appropriately.

Big 12 gets 5 home games.   Big East gets 5 home games.  Thus, each conference gets 5 home games.

Oh boy, I totally read past the "in each conference" part.  I need some more coffee.
