Ike Eke (back) and Greg Elliott (thumb) will not scrimmage today for #mubb but Eke is participating in early drills. Elliott just doing running on side.

Sounds like their injuries from last season may be lingering.

There is this from Fanta through Steele

This is perfect ball movement by @MarquetteMBB, and it’s initiated through Joey Hauser. Six passes lead to the easy dunk. #mubb #BIGEASThoops

So it would appear our defense is in midseason form?

We'll see how whether the injury slows Markus down for long, but he's tough and a lot stronger than he was as a freshman. Spacing, movement and passing are clearly the emphasis for the offense. That offensive set from Ben Steele's tweet was a highlight of the scrimmage.

Have to keep in mind this is only the first week of practice. Lots to improve on, but also a lot of encouraging signs on both ends of the floor.

Can't win with fans......have great ball movement and score......defense sucks.

Turn the ball over or miss a shot......man our offense is struggling ......can't even score on our defense.

This in a nutshell is why you can't really tell much until you start playing other teams.

But in the meantime always look at the glass as being half empty........it is the scoop way.

M2N as well as the rest of the team (men’s & women’s) were at the union signing the posters for the youngins...a lot of joking around going on between everyone. He seemed juuuust fine.

It's early.  No one should take away anything from these scrimmages other than high level observations.

That said, to say that informed fans aren't going to be critiquing the defense from the get go is misguided.  Simply, MU has been bad, if not awful, recently. Amongst the lowest in the P6. Broken record, I know but so is the "in Wojo we believe" Intelligencia Camp.

We can blame the Scoop Way or the team can perform.  I prefer the later and so does Coach Wojo when you hear him talk. But, let's stop this year blaming the posters who state the obvious.  Prove us wrong Wojo! The rubber hits the road this year.

Based on what I’m hearing, we should already be practicing the zone eh? ;)
