Even if Villanova were to lose all four of their best players, they would reload pretty quickly. As long as they don't lose their HC, they aren't going downhill.
And they will consistently kick our ass until we get a clue.

Credit where it's due.  You came up with the best comparison for what his ceiling could be.

Which would be a pretty great NBA career. I think people forget how solid Andre Miller was. Never flashy, but he never missed a game until that silly suspension.

Comparable to Mark Jackson?  The former Johnnie PG?  Other than starting PG for Big East schools, nothing in common between Bruson and Jackson.  Brunson is a WAY more dynamic scorer than Jackson ever thought of being.  Jackson way more of a pure PG.

Andre Miller?  I'm not sure I see that either.  Brunson again way more dynamic scorer.  Miller was good at everything, and good, not great scorer.  Brunson outside of scoring is just ok, or barely registers in other areas.

I'm not that high on Brunson in the NBA - great college scorer, I just don't see that translating to the NBA.  For one, he's 6'2", some list him as 6'3".  Those both seem generous, 6'3" for sure does.  He doesn't have Iverson like quickness to make up for height being way less than ideal for the NBA.  He'd be a very small 2, and really an undersized PG in the pros too.

I see a career journeyman career.  Don't blame him a bit for declaring still, like others have said, nothing to prove in college anymore for him.

A name that jumps to mind for comparison is Brandon Jennings.  Very good scorer, ok distributor, left handers, and similar size, although Jennings has always had more of a slight build than Brunson.

Agree to disagree.

I don't think Brunson is in any way comparable to Brandon Jennings.

Any chance DiVincienzo declares?

And, Jalen Brunson reminds me of Avery Johnson and Rick Brunson in a blender.

Herman Cain

Enjoyed watching him play against everyone but MU. Wish him well going forward.

The last couple of years, we have usually played Nova closer than expected even though the talent and experience gap has been significant. Maybe it's a style of play or matchup thing, but we may get another win or two if that gap closes a bit.
What? Last game they blew us out by 24. I guess that was closer than expected.

A slightly smaller but much smarter Marcus Smart.  Better shooter, too, and Smart went 6th.  I think the 2" height difference drops him out of the lottery, but not much.  He's intelligent, a leader, has the understanding from his father... heaps of upside, and he's only 21.

Though short, Brunson is powerful and plays under control - and he can shoot it. My best comp would be former Warrior and POY Butch Lee.

My thoughts exactly. Besides, we're due to win one of these close games with them, or to avoid them when they are playing perfectly. Some of those losses to Nova were also some of the best games we played all year. Loss is a loss, but, we nearly beat them even this year with however many NBA players on their roster.

To that "other" post. Listen, obviously the way the team was constructed this season, it was going to be boom-or-bust in pretty much any game. We saw that play out the entire year, shouldn't we have lost to an Illinois directional? And then beating some damn good teams. All we had was the 3-point shot, we couldn't rely on defensive stands, frontcourt play, etc. That leads to potentially wildly different scores against teams you play again. You can't just expect to hit the same 3P% and get the same amount of open looks every game. Not to mention that we also should have expected the best coach in the game to have figured out and exploited our generally one-dimensional approach/weaknesses by the last game. Saying that doesn't mean I hate the team, Wojo, burn it all down. That's just objectively how it was, even a non-MU person would see it that way.

Yeah I mean outside of the 2pt loss and the game we won we've lost by 15, 12, 10, 10 and 24. Granted one of the 10pts was closer than the score at the end looks but idk if we've consistently played them better than anyone else.

Did you catch them winning 2 (two) national championships in that timeframe??? And it's not like they were cheapies. Get over yourself.

Butch was not even close to the same player after his knee injury.
