For sure good season. My expectation was NIT so I'll take it.

Next year NEEDS to be an improvement. No questions.

Good point.  ::)

Actually I'm happy it's the off season.  Since there is no game to be complaining about, you go back into the hole in which you came from for about seven months.

It's refreshing.

Good lord.  People can enjoy the season even if it ends in the NIT.

Enjoy all you want. I'm just disappointed that some fans enjoy mediocrity. I mean this is Marquette, and I just can't figure a world where losing at home to Penn St on national tv is enjoyable. To each his own I guess.

No one say that losing at home to Penn State at home was enjoyable.

I absolutely enjoyed some parts of the season. Gnashed my teeth over others. One can still find enjoyment in a season even when/if the end result is a bit disappointment.
I mean, if that's not possible, why bother being a sports fan at all?

Its DJOver

Only one team gets to cut down the nets in April, and we all knew it wasn't gonna be us. If people truly don't want a disappointing season,  wait until the clock hits 0.0 in the title game and then decide who you were rooting for all year.

Well stated as usual, Pakuni.

Some people just get their kicks from pissing on everything. They aren't even content to do their pissing in the toilets that are other pissing threads; they enjoy going into the threads where people are more optimistic and telling optimists we're stupid for being optimists.

It takes all kinds.

You mean there are some threads that are "optimistic threads" and some that are "pissing treads". I apologize I wasn't aware of that. Do the moderators enforce this distinction?
Query: how do you know which tread is which? Is there some kind of code? i really feel stupid for posting in  an optimistic thread. tell me the secret and I'll be more careful in the future.

We invested a significant amount of money in the team but its not that important if we win or lose as long as we run a clean program and we give it the old college try.

I appreciate the effort, hope for an upward trajectory, and will always back our Warriors!

I'm very sorry that so many of you had such a miserable season.  You may want to find another team that doesn't let you down nearly as often as this one.

I enjoyed watching this team this season.  This is independent of how they did in the W/L column.  They all seem to be great guys and despite what some people believe on this board they did play with a lot of heart.  When the 3s were falling, the games were amazing.  Markus scored 52 points in a come-from-behind victory at Providence.  After being left for dead, the zone came back in murdered Creighton.  Yes, they had their ups and downs - I was as disappointed as everyone about the loss at DePaul.

Scoopers, it was great to share the season with most of you.  The ignore button is sometimes a godsend.  But we are a community of fans, with diverse opinions and different approaches to our support of the team, the coach and the program.  Thanks for filling my idle hours this season, and even some hours that I shouldn't have been idle but Scoop was just too compelling to ignore.

I'm excited by the additions coming next year and I approach each new season with a fresh view of the possibilities.  Maybe I'll even make it to a couple games next year - my travel schedule made this year impossible.  Never look forward to the offseason, but Madness always rolls around again and we will start this crazy thing all over again.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

Mirrors my thoughts exactly. Thanks for contributing to the board this season!

Top reasons why I am worried about next year

> Woj still sucks at coaching defense, and you can't coach coaching
> No more Andrew Rowsey
> Theo John is terrible and will not develop
> Markus Howard is a volume shooter who has lost his touch
> No athleticism

Good season??   Wtf am I missing here??   Now the NIT is considered a good season?   Apparently expectations have hit rock bottom.
With the Wojo Kool Aiders, expectations are bottom tier BEast, and the Dance every 5 to 10 years. Mediocrity rules the scoop roost.

In September, my wife and I welcomed our firstborn into the world.  Due to complications at birth, he passed away 10 days later.  In an otherwise difficult winter, being a first time full season ticket holder and watching MUBB has been a welcome respite from the challenges of everyday life.

Although the team just missed my expectations, I appreciate the entertainment this year brought.  I enjoyed watching the growth of the freshman, watching Rowsey being a character on the court, #TheThing, spending way too much time following insightful and respectful posts on the scoop, the drama of being on the bubble, and so much more.  The enjoyment I had this year does not take away from my disappointment we didn't make the tournament, but losing out and playing in the NIT doesn't define that enjoyment either.

Attending the Purdue game was the first time we went out to do something "fun" after our son passed away.  It was difficult for more reasons than Haas having free reign at the hoop.  However, I appreciated being there none the less.  If that game and this year taught me anything, it's that you don't need to lower your expectations in order to find and express positives.  Nor do you need to demand less in the future.  This is just sports after all, where winning is all, but it's not everything.  If it is literally everything to you, I humbly suggest you take time to re-evaluate what is important to you and watch Tony Bennett's post-game interview from their 16 seed loss.  It's not how you handle the wins that matter, it's how you handle the losses that show your character.

That all being said, thank you scoopers for adding to my entertainment this year.  Respect your fellow posters.   See you in the off season and during a much more successful 2018-2019 season!

I'm so sorry for your loss UWW.  Your outlook is much appreciated on a board where people think MU Hoops is life or death.  Hopefully, we can all realize that while Marquette Basketball is an important part of our lives, it's not even close to being at the top of the list.  My sincere condolences to you and your wife.
