Pitt’s mass transfers
« on: March 16, 2018, 10:30:35 AM »
8 players have asked for their release from Pitt’s basketball program. I haven’t seen a list of which players it is. They were 0-18 in the ACC, so there might not be a ton worth looking into. But does anybody know if they have anyone worth a roster spot? Anybody eligible to grad transfer and play right away next season?

Pitt sucked. Not much talent there. Best player hasn’t transferred (yet).
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Is this wishful thinking, or can't players transfer without needing to sit out a year if their current coach leaves?

The likely grad transfer plays the 4, so no go.  Marcus Carr seems to be the closest thing to a point guard...not sure we're interested in a 4.0/2.8 Assist/Turnover and bad shooter.

Hope Pitt's enjoying their move to the ACC.  I remember Dixon not being a fan of the move.  Nice to see he immediately made TCU relevant.

And the restless Pitt fanbase that felt Jamie wasn't meeting their expectations.......

If I recall correctly, most of the hoops coaches didn't like the move. Pretty sure Pitino and Boeheim were upset as well.

Posts like this are amusing....considering the source.  Implication:  MU fans better not get restless with Wojo.

The day Wojo can replicate Jamie Dixon's success at Pitt, at MU, is the day all restlessness in the MU fanbase goes away.

It is simply the flip side of the scale.  A risk you consider when evaluating a change.

Unlikely.  Fans always demand more.  We saw it with Buzz Williams at MU, Crean at MU, now Wojo at MU.  Achieve some success, and that becomes the new baseline demand by fans.  Dixon was perceived to not be able to go the next step, that is what is unfair in that profession because he team is new, each season a completely different one, but fans don't process that.

I don't think that's the case at all. Dixon won Big East crowns, went to the tourney almost every year and earned 1-seeds. Wojo has earned nowhere near the credit Dixon did at Pitt.

In 10 years, if we have 9 more tournament appearances, a few league titles, and are occasionally in the top-10 and complaining, then we may want to revisit this cautionary tale. We aren't close to being there yet.

It may have, actually. The only thing worse than inexperience is having a lot of really bad experience.
