Anybody who thinks we played poorly tonight, doesn't understand that basketball is played on two ends of the court.

Our defense was surprisingly strong tonight.  Don't let the last few minutes of sloppy play cloud your judgement.  In many games the opposition ran a layup line against us this season, those games were hard to watch.  This one was not.  Perhaps I'm just someone who enjoys defensive intensity?

There is no reason for Sam to play against Oregon. Shut him down. And if Cain isn't fully healthy, shut him down, too. This is an exhibition tournament, not a time to risk more serious injuries to guys trying to hobble around the court.

Certainly makes sense.  If it happens then  Playing Coach who are your Starters and then what's your Rotations?

Our defense was OK, far from good. They missed a number of open looks and even a few bunnies. They also played without their two best players and still kept it competitive. It's admirable to try to find positives from tonight's performance, but there just aren't many.

Its DJOver

Was Harvard playing without it's two best players? Yes. Was Marquette playing without one of its best players? Yes. Was another of Marquettes best players playing injured? Yes. Did Marquette also have two role players injured? Yes. The only teams that are 100% healthy at this point in the season are the ones that are no longer playing.  Excuses shouldn't be used for either side. The players Marquette had tonight beat the players Harvard had tonight, that's all that matters.

Lol we were winning by 15, Cain got hurt. Sam was not being effective. And our guards didn't do the job at the end. A win is a win, survive and advance....

Yeah, I'm sorry but this was a severely depleted Ivy league team playing in our own practice facility.  Any team in the Big East beats us comfortably with the way we played last night.

No. We are a Big East team (and not even the worst one despite what our fans think!). So if we can play at that level, then so can most of our Big East brethren.

I also think that if we were up 19 with 8 minutes left in a meaningful game against a Big East team, we wouldn't have taken the foot off the gas so much and wouldn't have rested Sam the rest of the way.

I've done so.   Felt great.    Still not gonna turn into a wee whiny warrior wannabe like you.
