Considering 99.9% of coaches do not make the Hall of Fame, you are going out on quite a limb.

Lol - Yea.  True.  But, it is also quite a stretch to hold up the early stage careers of any of Bo Ryan, Jay Wright, and Coach K - to try to prop up Wojo.  Wojo walked into a pretty good deal at MU - great facilities, Big East conference affiliation, great budget/private jet for recruiting, solid base of talented underclassmen in the program, etc.

Next year will be big for Woj.  I have a feeling it will be a virtual carbon copy of this year...and will be interesting to see how our fanbase feels next year should that turn out to be the case.

Newsflash----'Nova's a young team.

Brunson is a Junior. Bridges, Booth, and Paschall are all red shirt juniors. DiVincenzo is a RS sophomore. Hardly young...

One concerning thing was I watched the post game conference after nova and wojo said..."I thought we had an outstanding year, especially considering our youth."

I would hope he would the program goals higher than 19-13 and NIT (hopefully NIT at this point lol)

You're really THAT worried about that quote? What do you expect him to say?

If you read comments about Wright from a few years ago you would see how many people wanted him fired.  Fan bases are emotional and often not very grounded.  The reason to show the comparisons is to illustrate very few coaches hit the ground running and stay at a high level forever.  Not Bill Belichick, not Jay Wright, Coach K, Bob Knight, John Wooden.  Wojo has a lot to learn, so did others.  Let us all hope he is able to get to that level, but very few have without down seasons along the way.  In my view, this wasn't a down season.  Exactly how I thought it would turn out.  Next year, a result less than top 3 or 4 in conference and a upper bracket seed would be underachieving.

He was 30-27 at Wisconsin Milwaukee

Which was a minor miracle considering Ric Cobb went 28-81 the four years prior.

The Big East player of the year is a junior, Brunson.   Mikal Bridges, All Big East first team is also a junior.

Would you consider 30-27 winning biggly?

Cobb's last year was 5-9 in conference.  Coach Ryan went 6-8 and 7-7.  Some improvement, but not what I would call biggly.

Could very well be wrong. In which case those on this board will read my apology, but, my opinion remains that I don't think, nor have I observed, that Steve has the chops to turn this team into a perennial power.

Perennial Power appears to be a long way from other comments.  We haven't been a perennial power since the 1970's.  I don't see anyone in the coaching ranks coming to Milwaukee that will duplicate those results.

Why knot? What do X and Nova have that we don't?

Nothing.  There is no reason we cannot be at that level.

Both of them have coaches that were part of the program beforehand.  They were continuing part of a tradition.  Stability is very important.  The biggest problem Marquette has had is an inability to develop a succession plan.  O'Neill, Crean and Buzz were all replaced by outsiders.

Eventually Marquette has to have stable leadership with assistants who can replace the head coach should he head elsewhere.  Is that Wojo?  Jury is obviously out.

That to me is the corker of the whole thing. X and'Nova are no different than MU. Anyone that does not believe MU CAN be a top 15 program is flat out wrong. If X can do it, MU sure as hell can do it.

I definitely agree with that.
Wonder if it can be done with Wojo, however.

X has their own, on campus arena.

Villanova has their own, on campus arena (though under renovation and most games this year played at Wells Fargo).

Villanova is a better academic school than MU.  Larger endowment, won a national title more recently than we did (1980's) prior to their most recent.

Is X a perennial power?  What defines this?  I'm willing to answer your question, but need to understand how you define things.

You honestly think having an on-campus arena makes a difference???

Never met the man.  He took over a NCAA team and went down over next five years.  Recruiting poor at the end.  Wojo took over a non NIT team and has improved program.  I see no comparison between two, though both may end up not being the right people for the job.

We have Stan Johnson ready for when Wojo gets offered the Duke job.  Let's hope Lovell has Stan on high alert.

Only going off what the recruits that land there say.  Student attendance better, practice where you play, great recruiting tool.

If MU had the chance to build a quality on campus arena vs playing in one shared by other teams, we would do so for the benefits it would provide.
