To waste some time while we await March 11, 2018 5:00:00pm

Can anyone tell me why March 21, 2014 8:44:15pm is noteworthy in The Marquette Basketball Universe? Scoop Nation should know this one.

And as a bonus, after someone gets the right answer can anyone tell me why the answer is the answer (cause I don't know)?...you'll know what I mean when we get there.

No correct answer by 4p tomorrow, I will just give it up.

I will never forget getting a call from someone at Auburn the day before who knew Buzz was getting the Auburn job if Pearl didn't take it. I was blindsided - the fact that an Auburn insider knew Buzz was leaving and I didn't. I was asked, "Why isn't your coach happy, he is getting a great salary."

I believe we are only successful long-term with Wojo on a long-term commitment. He is still young, but if he is chased out at some point then I believe we will always be a nice stepping stone position.

Pearl is dirty.  Why would Buzz be on their list then?

EDIT:   Buzz Williams seems a clean coach to me.  He might push the envelope, but nothing beyond that.  Pearl has been caught twice and under investigation earlier this year.  Auburn has earned a reputation at times in various sports for going outside the rules, that doesn't make sense Coach Williams would be on their list.

Chico's and Ners were around back then right?

Nope.  It was The Miracle in Lexington.

That was my first thought but March 21st seemed late.

Well Rocky ruined the fun fast.

Wait, do you mean that coaches might not want to come to schools that give up on new coaches early?

Who've thunk it?
Spoiler alert: not anyone who wants Wojo gone now or after next year.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Day Buzz left and active day on Scoop.

This was one of the saddest days in MU BB history...Buzz leaving..you just wonder how different things might be for the program right now had the board not made the terrible decisions of hiring Larry Williams and Fr Pilarsz.

Stop...Had the previous administration still been here, Buzz would still be here..Buzz won games, and lots of them. Never did anything illegal. It was all on Larry and father Pilarsz. Period. Their legacy will always be that they killed MU BB and stopped it's momentum from becoming elite...I'm sure Larry is proud of that.

Hands down the closest the program was to being relevant on the national scene for several decades.

Buzz's actions rightfully concerned the BOT.  Hiring SP and LW were terrible overreactions that were eventually corrected.

And remember that Buzz left when Father Wild and Cords were in place.

Buzz wasn't some innocent victim in all of this.

I will say it ONCE more....HE. WON. GAMES. Period, end of story. He was on the cusp of bringing this program back to where it belonged.

His actions also caused Marquette to violate federal law.

Probably my over active imagination but I always imagined that Buzz had a Ray Donovan type guy in the background making sure he and his guys didn't get in trouble.
