I love Jamal but I'm not sure he's a HUGE difference maker on defense. He is disruptive with his length but his on ball defense leaves a lot to be desired

But yes, ppp allowed is not the end all be all stat, no stat is (though eFG% is close). I was surprised by both Harry and Markus as well. Harry is the result of a small sample size. I think Marcus is the result of being repeatedly tasked with guarding inferior offensive players....or maybe my eye test is wrong on him.

The rest is pretty much what I expected.

The kid always seems to have a tough assignment. Hopefully next year Joey, Cain and Morrow can help him out on defense to give him a bit of a break.

Don't care who Markus Howard is guarding (granted it is usually the other team's shooting guard), he sure as hell aint the 3rd best defender on this team, nor is Harry Froling the 4th best.

Just shows that Synergy is not by any means the end all be all for measuring player's impact.

Sigh. A few corrections:

It's not d-rating, it's ppp allowed
Harry is 3rd, Markus is 4th.
Harry's sample size is half the size of any player due to coming in midseason and playing few minutes
No one said that Harry is the 3rd best defender or Markus is the 4th. They are 3rd and 4th in ppp allowed, this is a fact
Ppp allowed is not the end all be all stat. No stat is. But it is generally regarded as the best indicator of individual on ball defense.
Synergy is not a stat. It's a service that collects advanced stats. I have no reason to believe that it lies

Now having said all that, Cain is a better defender than both Markus and Froling IMHO. PPP allowed doesn't tell you everything and is affected by the quality of players that individuals are tasked with guarding. I'd put him as 5th best defender on the team behind Sam, Greg, Sacar and Matt. He has great length and gets deflections but his on ball defense leaves a lot to be desired and he has a tendency to get lost. I'm excited to see what he can develop into as he gets more experience. I was just challenging that he is HUGE defensive difference maker.
