ESPN Get 2016 NFL Coaching Hires Completely Wrong
« on: February 06, 2018, 12:16:24 AM »
Two years ago ESPN ranked the six new NFL coaching hires ... shown below.

If they held a meeting and said, "let's intentionally gets this wrong."  How would it look any different from their attempt at getting it right?

January 15, 2016

Ranking the NFL head-coaching hires from 1 to 6

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/14577884/ranking-new-nfl-head-coaching-hires-hue-jackson-cleveland-browns-first

1. Hue Jackson, Cleveland Browns [1 - 31 in two years]
2. Chip Kelly, San Francisco 49ers [Fired after going 2-14]
3. Adam Gase, Miami Dolphins [16-16 record, 6-10 this year]
4. Dirk Koetter, Tampa Bay Buccaneers [15-18, 5-11 this year]
5. Ben McAdoo, New York Giants [Fired after going 3-13]
6. Doug Pederson, Philadelphia Eagles [He just won the Super Bowl]

Regarding Pederson ... how about this insightful analysis:

Maybe Pederson has the "emotional intelligence" that owner Jeffrey Lurie is looking for and that Chip Kelly allegedly lacked, and maybe not. But after Coughlin pulled out of the chase and McAdoo canceled his second interview, Lurie didn't have much to choose from and figured Pederson might bring a little Andy Reid football back to the Linc. It feels like a reach.

It was one person's OPINION. Just as "some people" have opinions about Apple's future.

With March fast approaching, maybe you could lead a discussion as to how every expert prognosticator at ESPN misses several (or more) games in the Big Dance every year.

This is like “experts” saying Syracuse does not belong in the tournament and the they make the final four.

Um...no. Validating a prediction based on a one-and-done tournament? Vs a multi-year coaching stint?
