I want to see Greg running the point for 4-5 minutes between the first and 2nd TV timeouts of the first half for the remainder of the season.  Enough of this crap about finding a grad transfer PG, we've already got a guy with guts, balls, game, and everything else except a little Big East PG experience.

Maybe the best pure passer on the team no doubt.  Though a grad transfer PG would still be key.  With our below average defense we need a scoring point guard.  We are going to lose 20+ ppg with Rowsey graduating.   I don't think we need that kind of production from PG next year,  but a serious amount of points needs to come from the point guard spot.

Greg is going to get some serious minutes at guard (point or other spots) either way though.

I?m worried that we all love Greg now, but when we increase his minutes the burst of defensive energy will go away and we?ll see more of his limited offensive game.  I?d love to be proven wrong though.

He is going to have off nights.   He is a freshman in the Big East.    But he has length, and energy, and no fear.

The best part will be next year when we're all mad he's not meeting whatever ridiculous expectations have been heaped upon him in the offseason.

We lose Rowsey but we gain 3 guys already. The grade transfer would be 4.

Not too worried about replacing the 20+ppg. We are gonna score

We're trying to win games and get in the tourney. Greg has been great and the future looks bright but I'd still prefer to have Rowsey or Howard in as the primary ball handler at all times.

GGGG

In the second half, Elliott had assists on back-to-back plays because of his hustle.  One was a rebound, the other was going after a loose ball after a poor pass from Howard.  Then of course he had his put back slam out of nowhere.

I'm not anointing anyone yet, but when you put him out there with Rowsey and Howard, he must be a nightmare to guard.  Not many teams have guys who can straight up defend three back-court players like those guys.

Yes he?s all of that but he doesn?t have the handle to go against the ultra quick 1s of the big east. Could he get there someday, yes. But for now he?s a 1-2 dribble attacking player from the wing.

Really liked Elliott's game last night and he seems to have a good sense of where he can fit in and contribute.  I would say the same thing for Theo.  It's a credit to Wojo that these guys are figuring out their roles and not trying to do too much.  Nonetheless, I would love to bring in an experienced PG next year for one year.  Even if he doesn't score like Rowsey, someone who can distribute, defend and hit free throws in the clutch would be huge.  Basically someone to replace Haanif.

He'll run the point next year when Markus isn't and he'll have a healed left hand.....no need to rush it, let him play the role of 3rd or 4th scoring option and the stopper for the other teams lead guard. Between Howard and Rowsey we have all the PGs we need this season.

The OP didn't say much different than this.

Like the OP, I wouldn't mind seeing Greg get a little taste of PG in the right situations, too. However, I trust Wojo, who knows these guys and sees them every day in practice. He has shown he a very good feel for who should get what PT and at which positions. If he thinks Elliott should get a few minutes at PG, I'm all for it. If he doesn't, there's a reason.

Agree with all that a distributing and defending PG who can score enough to keep opponents honest would be ideal for the kind of teams we're gonna have the next couple of seasons. A Landry Shamet type would be ideal.

Not saying he has to be as good as Shamet - though that would be effen wonderful! (Shamet BTW was a 3-4 star recruit, depending upon which serviced one looks at.)

Yeah, I love Elliott, and his passing is great, but are we that comfortable with his ball handling yet?

All I'm saying is, I'm not sure he's the guy I would have bringing the ball up the court against a pressing team in a close game.  Have him in the game?  Sure.  But I'm not completely certain I see him as someone we want running the point at least really soon.

One of my reservations surrounding this year's team was its lack of athleticism. Sacar, Elliott and Cain have been pleasant surprises in that regard. I think Haanif's transfer was a win/win for him and us.

Other than the lack of another body, it's hard to disagree with this.

Elliot is my favorite player on the team. He embraces Defense and team play. The kid loves to look for the open man. I am completely comfortable and very excited about with him at the point next year. He is in the perfect role as a freshman.

Remember next year we are going to have Bailey and Hauser II who will also need to be fed . I am confident Elliot is the man with a plan in that regard.

Greg is proving to be a key offensive and defensive player helping this team win.  Love his energy, passion and competitiveness.
