What are your expectations for this year vs next year?

My personal expectations this year are for us to be a bubble team and may be squeak in the tourney.

Next year though, obviously getting grimes would change this, but with the class currently I would expect to make the sweet sixteen.

What about you guys?

I basically agree with you.

About the same for this season.  I think we will finish as a ranked team next year, and hope that translates to tourney success.  A meaningful guess at how far we'd go in the 2019 NCAA tournament at this point is beyond my capabilities.

I believe us better this year then last. I think what we lost is far outweighed by what we have gained.

I agree.  I think we have more solid contributors.  I'm thinking this team will reflect the Sum is Greater than all its Parts.

I think we'll be more comfortable than most are thinking. 5-7 seed. Top half of the league and 20 wins.

We return three of our four most offensively efficient players and the other was Luke, who was relatively ineffective down the stretch. I feel in terms of net value, Luke and JJ are very replaceable. We'll need a sparkplug to replace Reinhardt, but there are plenty of candidates.

Defensively, I'm hoping the increased depth, improved size, and extra diligence will pay off. I don't expect great, but with our returning offensive pieces, top-100 should be enough to be comfortable.

GB Warrior

Go out, compete, steal some games, give some away. Bubble team, but like the Brewers this year, just a bunch of kids having fun and growing together.

Lot depends on defense. We do well on the defensive side of the ball, we win 22 games and maybe are the 5-7 seed noted above.

We're gonna score and we're much more powerful inside than last year.

NCAA -- decent chance we go into the second week

You lost 3 seniors with experience, added 6 players with no experience, they better grow up fast if you think they will be better.  Howard shot 55% from 3's, not sure
that will ever happen again.  MU put 5 players on the court last year that could score, do not see that this year.  Better defensively yes,  but I see short on the O end.
Rebounding better be better as  they are not going to hit as many threes.  Got to score in the paint.  I love Joey and Morrow in the paint the following year, bigger
and stronger.  This year I am not even sure who the 3 is right now, and Sam is slightly overmatched on the D end as the 4.

GGGG

I expect that we struggle early, Scoop will melt down, but that we will do well in BE season and end up about where we were last year when all is said and done.

2018-19?  Watch out...

Eye

Make progress this year. Better in non-league play. Better in league play. Win a tourney game. I'd think that translates to low to mid-20s in terms of wins.
GO WARRIORS!

Honestly expectations are hard for this team.  Really it comes down to if the freshmen can step up.

Can Theo be a defensive presence at this level, even for a 10-12 minutes?  Can Elliott or Cain provide scoring off the bench?

For Marquette to make a leap, at least two of them have to be solid contributors.  Or one of them has to be a stud and exceed what Sam did last year.  And until the games tip-off, that is hard to predict.

I believe this, but that does not mean we make the NCAA tournament. Things fell in place for us last year.
A key win over Villanova and key injuries to Creighton and Xavier cannot be counted on to happen again.

I am more on the wait and see attitude.  Hoping for the best, will not be discouraged if they fall short of the NCAA.  Never seen any of the new recruits in person,
and how they have grown from a high school senior to a college freshman.  If Cheatham can give them anything?  Then you add Harry in December,  who is he?
The scrimmage tomorrow will give us all more incite on the the team.  Another big point to watch, can Howard play some D and stop reaching and fouling.  He has to
play more than 22 minutes that he did last year, need 30 from him or more.

Given the high quality of our returnees, I think our floor is 7th in the Big East and either the NIT/last 4 in NCAA. Ceiling is trickier - maybe 3rd in the conference and the Sweet 16.

Good, so am I.  I am not writing a paper to get graded on or my spelling, if somebody wants to correct me that is great though.  Never got an A in English, maybe A
in business courses.

More insight, it is great to see all the potential recruits coming to Madness.  To me, Wojo and staff are tireless workers.  Nice to have a recruiting budget that does
not stop.  Future looks very bright with the addition of the new Arena coming, I expect big crowds the first year with a very good team for sure!  Next year with or
without Grimes, they should win a couple games in the NCAA tournament.

Herman Cain

I am looking for us to finish 3rd in the Big East. We will get to the second weekend in the tournament. Our offense is going to be very strong and we can start a veteran lineup. The defense will be improved. We have plenty of fouls to give and have some young pogo sticks who are not under pressure to contribute immediately.  I believe Sacar has the most of the year off and will be a plus.

I have us about the same this year as last.  Mid Tier BE team.  Can beat anyone when hot from 3, but will struggle to win when not.  Somewhere between 8-11 seed.  I have us in the tourney.

Next year we could be super good, but I'll enjoy this one first.

I agree with this analysis...because I remember when Vander was a Soph we were saying how super good we'd be when he was a senior.  Things change.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.
