since one of the assistants at Louisville was Crean's asst. at IN I suspect Louisville won't go after Crean, just too close even if that assistant is not involved in the current mess

IMO you would have to be an idiot to take the UL job at this point. This is a toxic situation and things probably get worse before better.

For the few million they're going to pay, I'll take the title of idiot.

Some D2 D3 or Juco coach desperate to get his big time opportunity would take it in a heartbeat. Like this guy from Bellarmine

I was referring to anyone that would normally be in line to replace Rick. Big name guys show make sure they have caller ID and not answer any calls from UL or their alumni.

L'ville is more likely to get the death penalty at this point than to hire name brand coach with high major head coaching experience. NCAA is going to make a big move to try to keep the feds off its back at an institutional level.

I have an income, but it certainly isn't what the next Louisville coach is going to get.

MU82 is the most successful coach here.  He hires JB to recruit.  They make it work for a year and then realize their differences are too much to overcome.

As slow as the UNC case has gone it will be many years before the NCAA rules on this latest mess.

I agree on the money they will pay. The guys I am talking about already make that type of scratch. Nothing to gain for them.

I think the NCAA will look long and hard about handing out the death penalty again.  As bad as this was, I don't think it results in any death penalty for any of the institutions.

Well, he has the rep of running a clean program. That's why Indiana threw so money at him to leave MU and go to rebuild their program.

I'm thinking Richard Pitino might get a look for the Louisville job.

No way this is going to happen. There is a saying that the apple does not fall far from the tree.

This year's team is loaded even without Bowen. Will the NCAA be able to impose a penalty on this year's team before the tournament? If not, that interim job might look pretty tasty to a guy like Crean, who can come in for a year and try to win a title, and then leave to make way for a permanent coach to clean up the mess. It would be a circus, sure, and perhaps not worth the headache...but if it's a title one is after, there are worse choices to make.

No way. That name will be gone from UL for awhile.

By the way, slick Rick still wants all the money owed on his contract. Maybe the school should sue him for all the BS he has done there.

Logical.   Let these players play this year under a coach they know and a system they know.    Let the dust settle over the next 6-7 months and, if necessary, go coach shopping in the spring.

The university doesn't have a permanent president or athletic director either.
