Show her this thread - if she's offended you're in trouble, if she asks for JB's contact info you're in REAL trouble, if she laughs your good, if she understands Chili's poke at Heisy get a ring today.

Do NOT show her this thread - at least not until after you have vetted her sense of humor and her sensitivity to sarcasm.  Most women do not have the thick skin I have built up over the years of reading you guys' immature and/or misogynistic posts.

That being said - I assume she is Catholic, and a lot of Catholics are Domer fans by default. If the two of you get serious, she will probably switch allegiances.  At a minimum, she should respect yours.

The family's ND fandom will simply become a source of (hopefully) good-natured ribbing. I have a high school friend who is a huge domer fan - travels from Chattanooga to South Bend a couple of times a year to go to football games - even though all of his degrees are from state schools in Tennessee.  Whenever I catch him on Facebook referring to ND as "we", I respond with "What's this 'we' crap?" and point out Tennessee Tech's dismal performance.

(Of course we need pics, he knows how misogynist this crowd is, it really goes without saying.  What I don't understand is what is taking so long.)

If he hasn't accomplished what you suggest in your first paragraph after 2 years of dating then there's a problem.

If he wasn't able to figure out after 2 years that she and her family are Domer fans, there's a reasonable chance he hasn't figured out the other stuff as well.
Have some patience, FFS.

How on earth have you been dating for TWO YEARS and you only got to the Notre Dame fan topic today? That should probably be at latest second or third date material.

It only came up because I asked if she wanted to go to the La crosse game today

Happy Mother's Day, Warriorchick!  Mega bonus points for getting 'em to the Hilltop.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Happy Mother's day, Warrior Chick.    Thank you for putting up with the misogynistic BS that goes on here.

On to the dilemma.    Other than agreeing that you should have figured this out a helluva lot faster than two years, I honestly don't see the problem.    I married a huge Hoosier fan with an entire maternal side of the family Badger fans and alumni.   They are good people who have never been anything other than kind and gracious.   We joke sometimes, but it is never message-board level angry.    My bride was happy when IU landed Crean, and happier when they fired him.    Domer is a different kind of mental disorder, but it is highly unlikely to affect you in the long term.    If you were happy with the girl before, this shouldn't fundamentally alter it.    Besides, it isn't like the Domers have the stones to actually schedule MU anymore.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I read keefe's posts (whenever I decide to take him off "ignore") and my first thought is usually "I totally get how Tailhook happened".

What a hairy wet cat you are. Dress up for your next date in patterned sportcoat and t-shirt. If she reacts, um, "positively" to your new look go to the well one last time, shout "Take that Digger" as your moment approaches, get up, burn your outfit and consider it a lesson learned.

ND blows. Tell her that. If she stays with you, it was meant to be. If she leaves, you know your answer.
