The conference is expected to distribute about $45M per school next year.  Estimated to be about $54M by the end of the TV deals in 2023.  Since becoming commissioner in 1989, he has been the driving force for expansion, the development of the BTN, and oversaw the development of both the BCS and the CFP systems.

The Big Ten is rewarding him for very good reason.

Athletic departments have plenty of money.  They just spend it like drunken sailors at a whore house.
