Why is everyone excited for a 2 star (3 in some services) recruit?

Not even a top 100 guy.

Well....

1. He's a 3 star. Borderline 4 star on 247. Missed it by about 10 spots

2. Because he has offers from Providence (recent successful program) and some guy named Tom Izzo.

3. High ceiling.

4. Pretty sure you're a troll anyways so this was pointless, but there are plenty of obvious reasons to be excited even if you choose to ignore them.

We just landed the best player in the Detroit Public School League.  Next question.

Additionally, it appears as if we got 3 of our 4 targets in the fall and now have gotten 1 of for targets in the spring.  You can be critical of the program but recruiting is probably the last thing you criticize.

Spent 20 years in Detroit area...when you get the best of the PSL you got something.

I remember seeing Jalen Rose, Voshon Lenard and Howard Eisley play for Southwestern (Eisley was a year ahead)...all eyes were on Rose who had the swagger...winked at the cheerleaders, smug grin...scored 30 without sweating. Hardley noticed Lenard with 17 but he ended up great too.

Chris Webber was also Detroit but got recruited to a suburban prep school...he was going to go to Southwestern with Rose....what a HS team that would have been.

Also, the young actor who played Elliot in the film, Henry Thomas, later went on to star in a film called Fire in the Sky, in which he played a character named Greg.

And exactly 18 years ago today, Thomas had a supporting role in a foreign film called The Thickest Neck in which he played a character named, I sh*t you not, Steve Wojchiechowski.

Yes, those are chills you feel running up your back.

Was that the one where young Steve learned about thick necks from his best friend Stan, whose father John was the title character because he had the thickest neck? I was very confused by the subtitles.

Because recruiting services and star ratings tell us all we need to know about a player.  Great point!
