The thing I love about high school recruits is I get older but they stay the same age.

Awesome!  I'm really excited to see the chemistry between Elliot and Cain.

For us newer-ish folks, when was the last time we brought in a pair of players who had been teammates, and did that chemistry help them adjust right away to the college environment?  Last I can remember is Fulce and Butler.

I guess Ike Eke counts too, but didn't they only play in one all star game together?

Ps...looks like Elliott is going to need a new number, since 3 is hanging from the rafters.

Hards Alumni

Welcome!

Reminds me a TON of Duane Wilson pre-injury.

'Bottom line is that Marquette snagged the most underrated perimeter prospect in the country in my opinion. He is the prototype combo-guard in terms of having a versatile skillset and good athletic ability. Marquette fans should be really excited that Greg hasn't even touched the surface of his full potential, as he will no doubt add a ton of muscle mass and refine his skill set as a freshman. Greg has a rare combination of skill, length, athletic ability and motor that could see him be an all Big East type player in a few years. More than anything on the scouting report, Greg Elliott is just a competitor. He plays at 100% every single play, on both ends of the court and does not back down. Greg is the epitome of a dog on the court, he just has it in him to be candid.'

Congrats to Greg, Wojo, the coaching staff and the rest of the team. Player by player, we're seeing the MU program restock and upgrade its talent level.

The scouting report immediately made me think of Vander Blue. A 6'3" combo guard who's athletic, quick, plays hard but not necessarily known for his ball handling or outside shooting. Fortunately, we shouldn't need Greg to run the point or produce a lot of offense right from the start — where Vander was immediately expected to step in as a major contributor (6th on the team in minutes and 5th in points scored as a freshman).

I'm looking forward to a little Detroit junkyard dog basketball.  Between guys like Ike, Greg and Jamal alongside Sacar, we should start to dish it out BEast style.

They were only teammates for an all star game not in HS, can't remember if they played AAU together or not.  The last HS teammates of the same year I can remember is Hoops Dream star William gates and Mckaskell.

So let's never make this mistake again.  His name is Elliott.  That's exactly 2 Ls and exactly 2 Ts.   ;D

Take away the position... to me, that sounds a lot more like JFB than it does VB or DuWil.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Cain, Elliott, and Eke all played for the same AAU team, The Family.

That's what crossed my mind too.  Obviously a long way to go but if he even comes close.

Good write up. Makes me wonder if the staff sees point guard potential in him, at least enough to get Howard some rest.

I Think that's a Bingo.

Thanks for coming, Greg, but couldn't you have gone somewhere else first, graduated and come here for a grad transfer year?  Then we all could have been excited.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

muwarrior69

As long as they can play defense from the get go, I'll be happy. Rowsey, Howard and Hauser will be our offense.

Why is everyone excited for a 2 star (3 in some services) recruit?

Not even a top 100 guy.

You're right, Cooley, Izzo and Wojo must be nuts for offering this kid.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
