What do y'all think. Made the tourney? Some nice moments? Talent for the future?

A Offense
D+ Defense.

The excellent offense got MU to exceed expectations, though.  I'd figured we were NIT bound this year, RPI in the 80s.

Tough to predict next year.    One would expect some progress, like improving RPI by 20 points, but .. we're losing a lot of solid talent .. freshmen are always a gamble to count on ..

Knit must not have voted yet, eh?

No F, yet

I gave a C final grade.

With the bubble so soft, MU did about what should have been expected.

Offense would get an A-

Defense gets an F

Hards Alumni

B+ but going out like that.   Sweet Christ.

SlowJoe

I gave it a B+, but the defense needs improvement.

Goose

Gave them a C+ three games ago and now a C. Not angry about last two losses, but really shows how much work is left to be done. Coaching needs to improve, talent level improve and major need for athletic players.

IMO there is a lot more work needed to be done than most on here believe. Watching games the last two days and it is quite obvious to me that we are not in same league as many of the tourney teams.

Hate the fact that I still care so much that I will be up for two hours stewing over the overall place our program is at in big picture.

Expectation was bubble team, but NIT would've been progress. Making the tourney takes it from B- to B, and the Nova win (biggest we've had since 2003) kicks it up a notch.

Honestly, the Nova win alone, the atmosphere that game created and the energy downtown that night, that was a passing grade for the season. It was that big.

I voted a B. I wasn't expecting a tourney run to start the year but thought it was possible. Our defense was atrocious but I am happy to see that Wojo is starting to create an identity with this team. That's my biggest takeaway and I'm happy to see that Wojo appears to have a vision for how his teams will play. I just hope to God that he can get even a servicable defense implemented because we can be really fun in the near future if that happens.

Markusquette

Voted B+ as well only because I expected average at best, especially after losing Henry and playing younger guys.  And the way we fought back to even make the tournament was worthwhile.  I was pretty convinced for a while we were a bubble team destined for the NIT.  Think what the guys accomplished without a bruiser big man, small guards, and a streaky shooting team was surprising.

I'd give it a b+. Made the tourny with a good first half. I had fun at Jackson's behind some older people. So it was fun

MattyWarrior

C because in almost half the games the Defense never really got better or stayed better.

B. Preseason I picked them in the last four in. They ended up with a 10 seed. And I actually think they were underseeded based on advanced metrics. Also, picked them 7th in the BEast and they got 4th. Hence, the B. Better than expected but plenty of room for improvement.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Reflecting on the season, I would have to say the sum was greater than the individual parts. In short, Coach Wojo got a lot out of a rather flawed team.

But, having the whole be better than its parts required the whole to work. When the whole team
did not function as planned it was beaten down.

The team was sort of like a watch. As long as all the parts are meshing together, it works. However, if one part stopped working, the watch goes haywire.

Coach Wojo got everything he could out of this team. This augers well for the future.

Frenns Liquor Depot

I really struggle here because I thought NIT this year and they made the tourney.  So from that standpoint a B+.

I would like to believe the advanced analytics, but the formula is broken for this team. Luck is the unexplained other in a regression formula and time and time again we proved the formula doesn't fit unless we are unconscious from three.

We still need a massive influx of length & athleticism and someone who can get the kids playing team defense on the bench.  Hoping we make some nice adjustments and build from here.  Last night was no disaster.

Mr. Sand-Knit

Grade depends on context, in the annals of MU hoops history Id give them a B.
Relative to the talent level of this years team, no 4, and the fact that our talent is so young and the fact that they overcame all this to scrape out an NCAa birth i give them an A

B+       Wojo was able to take a flawed, small, skinny, slow roster, play a brand of basketball that isn't his ideal vision, and get to the tourney.

I gave them a B, I like what I saw this year from Wojo. We all agree we need a couple of bangers to shore up our D, and give us a more physical team. But all in all this team exceeded my expectations and I can't wait for next  year.

Nukem2

B-  as the defense offset a really good offense.

B+?  B-?  What is this?

We are Marquette.

I give this team a BC

A couple of big holes to fill yet. Incomplete but trending toward the Big East bodies needed. However, let's not heap too many high expectations for a primarily freshman and sophomore team as of now. Sacar is vastly improved and is a forgotten piece.

Lennys Tap

in general a fun team to watch, especially against finesse teams like Vanderbilt or Creighton. But let's not kid ourselves. We were healthy all year. We played Xavier once without Bluiett and Sumner, once without Sumner. We played Creighton twice without Watson. We went 4-0 in those games. I know, I know - we still had to win those games, injuries are part of the game, etc., but in assessing progress I assume a luck neutral even playing field - and with one, we're no better than an 8-10 Big East team who watches the big tournament on TV. A- for offense, D for defense, C+ overall.
