We are a lock in the tourney man it feels good to be back but now we have to worry about where are we seeded. Right now Joe Lunardi has us as a 10 seed playing in Sacramento against South Carolina. CBSsports has us as a 10 seed to except we are playing Iowa State here

JamilJaeJamailJrJuan

My thoughts:

Between the 5 and 10 line, no one really scares me.  Sure, we could lose to pretty much any of them if we aren't shooting the ball well, but we could also beat any of them without playing our best game.  Avoiding the 8/9 and avoiding Kansas or UNC in the round of 32 would be ideal.  Give me the Zags all day long.  They're a better team than we are, but we beat that team 4/10 times on a neutral court, IMO.  7/10 isn't much better as I don't like how we match up with really any of the potential 2's in Louisville, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, and Baylor.  But after that, man, things really open up.  There are really only 8-10 really, really good teams this year.

11 seed would be ideal, but I think that ship has sailed, honestly.  I think a 6 is possible if we win the BET.  I wouldn't be shocked if the committee already has us around the 7/8 cut off due to our stack of top 50 wins, and the Nova win.  Another Nova win would certainly push us up.

Current crop of 6-10 from Bracket Matrix:

6: Minnesota, St Marys, Maryland, Iowa State
7: Wisconsin, Creighton, Dayton, OK State
8: So. Carolia, Miami, Witchita, Va TEch
9: Arkansas, Michigan, Northwestern, VCU
10: Marquette, Seton Hall, Michigan State, Providence

Bottom line, I assume we'll either be an 8 or 9 if we beat SHU and lose to Nova, and either a 9 or 10 if we lose to SHU.  So I see it pretty likely we end up in an 8/9 game, and I will be hoping for Gonzaga.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I think one thing we can agree on is as a 10-seed, we won't being playing games in Milwaukee.

We wouldn't be able to play here anyway because teams aren't allowed to play on their home court

And because the committee doesn't respect Wojo as a coach.

If it were Cooley, who the committee has great respect for, and if there were games held at the Dunk, the committee would surely make an exception for PC.  For MU and Wojo, not a chance.

we're in on 131 of 132 brackets at bracketmatrix.com

the one "expert" that doesn't list MU is real time rpi which has Illinois State, Houston, Rhode Island and Georgia as their last 4 in.

Gonzaga as the 1 on the 8/9 line would be a sawweeeeet draw

That would also be the case as a 1-seed.

No one from the 4-line down scares me, and even most of the top three lines aren't super daunting. They are better overall teams, but with our ability from them there is no one we can't beat. I suppose I'd rather avoid UNC and Kansas the first weekend, but otherwise, bring it on.

This Gonzaga scares me more than Gonzaga teams of the past have scared me. Honestly I would give us a 15% chance of beating any of the 1 seeds on a neutral court. Possible but far from probable.

I just want to see us win and the teams in front of us lose. As long as we end up in the tournament, I'll be happy.

This year will be the first year a 16 seed wins

It will happen someday. There will be a year where the top is watered down and almost all of the smaller conferences have their best team win the conference tournament. The teams at the top will be weaker. The teams at the bottom will be stronger.

This is definitely not that year.

I just found out Obama wiretapped the Committee and they are going to make a YUGE change to that. Best change ever. You are going to love it. Marquette will be winning so much.

I'm not a betting man, but I would put a hefty amount of money down that this will not end up being true

I wouldn't rule it out, but I'd need to see the matchup first

Santa Clara had some athletes and was able to take them down to the last few minutes the other night (minus their best player no less)

St. Mary's has zero athletes and got destroyed

Anyone saying bring on gonzaga hasn't watch 1 second of zags basketball.

They are a worse match up then Kansas is.

Two 7 footers? A 6'9 lanky forward who can defend anyone? An elite PG with a massive size edge on us?

They shoot well and they defend at an elite level with size.

Look what they do to St Mary's a team with a similar make up in having lots of shooters. St Mary's can't get good looks.

If that's a shot at me (appears to be because I am the one that said I will be hoping for the Zags if we're an 8/9).....I have watched a good deal of the Zags this year. They're very good.  You don't go 31-1 if you're not pretty good, I can't care what league you're in.

That said, the Zags have played 1 game within 10 points since mid December.  They lost that game.  They haven't played a 1 possession game since November 27th.  That is because they are good.  But they also haven't exactly been game tested or played under really any pressure at all outside of the BYU game, in which they turned the ball over multiple times in the final minutes.

If I am an 8/9, and my options are Gonzaga, Kansas or UNC (a BE team is not going to be opposite Nova), I am taking Gonzaga every single time.  Yah, they'd probably beat us, but I'll take my chances over the other alternatives.

As the committees get smarter and smarter on how they seed teams, I think it becomes less and less likely.  I was at the Georgetown-Princeton game in Providence that went to the final buzzer, and I am pretty confident that same Princeton team would not be a 16 seed with the current metrics helping out.

Freshman of the year in the SWAC. He had to wait for end of the first semester to play.. first game was vs. Louisville... and then a bunch of tough non conf games continued.

The Louisville game was hilarious.. 27 points, hit a shot and blew a kiss to the camera.. BUT, 11 flippin turnovers!!

He's found his groove as of late...

Demontrae Jefferson in March: 38.7 mpg, 22.3 ppg, 58.3% eFG%, 81.8% FT%, 4.3 apg, 3.0 rpg, 1.3 to/g, 1.0 spg, 0.7 fc/g

Isn't Jefferson older than a freshman should be?
