Horizon League Tournament
« on: March 05, 2017, 07:50:00 PM »
So far the lower seeded team has won every game in the Horizon League conference tournament.  10th seeded UWM beat 7th seeded Detroit and 9th seeded Youngstown State beat 8th seeded Cleveland State on Friday.  Then last night 10th seeded UWM beat 2nd seeded Valporaso (minus Alec Peters) and 9th seeded Youngstown State beat 1st seeded Oakland.  Tonight 6th seeded UIC beat 3rd seeded UWGB.  But 4th seeded Northern Kentucky is up 5 in the 2nd half on 5th seeded Wright State.

That bracket really opened up for someone to take.

Madness in March!

So you're saying there's a chance we can play UWM this season?

Yes, give us a win in the 8-9 game and have 16th seed UWM beat 1st seed Gonzaga.  Leggo!

They were beating Valpo 16-12 at halftime...wow.  Whopping 29-27 2nd half score in favor of Valpo.

UW-Milwaukee vs Northern Kentucky in the championship. If UWM wins would be interesting to see what their athletic director does going forward.

If their first year head coach takes them to the NCAA tourney I think he gets a lot of leeway for a few years, despite the poor record. Hell, this was considered a lost season for them after the late coaching change so even this run in the Horizon League tourney is impressive.

They lost 8 guys from last year, including their top 6 scorers. I don't think you can judge LaVall Jordan for anything this year.

But you can give all credit for this tournament run to assistant coach Todd Townsend.
