About 10 minutes left in the game. We were in the process of responding to CU's big run with one of our own. Up 13.

CU throws an entry pass to the post on the right block. Fischer defending in pretty good position but it was a pretty good look for CU. Duane runs baseline to help. Knocks the ball away. Markus gathers it and pushes it in transition down the middle of the court.

Duane never stops hustling, runs down the left side. Markus passes ahead in transition to Duane, who drives to the hoop and draws two defenders.

Katin runs to the corner taking his defender out of the play. Duane reads the defense. Kicks to Hauser wide open on the right wing for 3. Splash. Up 16. Dagger.

Beautiful transition basketball. Fantastic execution and recognition from Duane.

And that is the moment I knew we were going dancing

I pissed off my Michigan State friends on that play.  We had our game on alongside the Michigan State game.  When Hauser hit the 3 I yelled "game over biotches" not realizing that Kimble hit the game winning three versus State at that exact moment.

That's hilarious, Dano!

That was a great play by Duane & Co., but it also illustrates how much college basketball has changed in just a few years. Even 5 years ago (or even less), Duane (or any player in his position) would have taken that ball to the basket either for the layup or hoping to draw a foul (or both). In today's basketball, they pass up the layup for the transition 3.

Really was a beautiful play. I cant recall the last time I saw a possession like that in transition from a MU team. There have been some nice alley oop dunks off the backboard, but nothing like that play yesterday.

I was at the game and recall the play, but I'm wondering if anyone has a reply of it they can post.

Was that after his missed dunk? If, so props to him.

JJ missed the dunk, not Duane. But yeah it was after Creighton had cut it to 5 and we responded by going up 18.

That was so beautiful and so exciting. I just knew Sammy would make it. Just the fact that the pass came to him was so exciting. I think I high-fived everyone in 425 after that.

Just watched it again. Something else stood out...the fact at the top of the key once Hauser get the ball, the defender has no idea what to do. He either leaves Howard to go defend Hauser (which Hauser could then kick over to Howard for a wide open 3) or he hopes Sam misses.

Either way, when you have 2 or 3 shooters on the floor at the same time like Hauser, Howard, Rowsey, someone is going to be open in situations like that.

Agree - incredible awareness, and very difficult pass.  I knew Sam was going to hit that shot before he even caught the ball.

It was just an incredibly heady play, and a back breaker for a CU team that was rolling. Not since Lazar have I seen a rhythm trailing 3 so pretty.

Definitely difficult because Duane was going full speed and had to make the pass as he ran perpendicular to Sam-- and hit him square in the hands with the ball.

Great call, Eagle - Duane saved an easy 2 with the steal and the transition offense was a thing of beauty!

Watch Reinhardt - he knew it was good too

Duane could have taken the wide open layup but he made a great pass to Sam. Put the game away

I love how that play worked out, but I thought Duane should have just laid it in.

Honestly, I don't think he could have. He was moving full speed from a somewhat awkward angle. Creighton's big guy was in perfect position to block the shot from behind. I think he made the right read and the right play.

If so, check out Duane face after, look's like He scored the winning basket.  Just a great Team moment.

Howard's pass was also perfect--letting DW accelerate into receiving it, which set everything up.

Also, if you watch, all three shooters in that situation ran right to a different spot on the three-point line and camped out and ready to receive the ball--Reinhardt in the corner, Hauser on the wing, Howard up top.  Even if someone closed out on Hauser, he had two other options to find an open shot.

Beautiful.

Agree on Duane's play. That was a really tough pass — and dead-on. Sam nails the three. Crowd goes wild. Immediate timeout by Creighton. Killer.

He couldn't just lay it in. Full speed awkward angle and covered. Had he been wide open its a bone headed pass. He was covered by good defense which makes this an amazing pass
