Juan Anderson's Mixtape

We're going to smoke Georgetown on Saturday.  I like our chances to win 4 straight.  Tonight was just a blip.  Hot shooting returns.  We get some revenge against St. John's and Providence.

Time to roll.  Taking a Scoop hiatus until Saturday.

I'm going to repeat this about 15 times in the next 24 hours...
We picked the wrong night to miss our 3's.
Rowsey 0-fer.... Reinhardt off.

Would have won with even an average rowsey game.

I admire your confidence. I really don't have any confidence in this team. If we light it up from 3 we can beat anyone. However, if that doesn't happen this team just is not very good. We just aren't tough enough mentally and physically for the big east

Norm

I doubt MU beats Georgetown on Saturday. The Hoyas are playing a lot better these days and if they are on they will be hard to beat.

Send me your venmo

I'll personally give you $200 if we win our next 4.

There is nothing to suggest we can win 4 straight BE games.

Just win one and see what happens.

GoldenZebra

4 straight? Um ok. What alternate reality would that be in? One game at a time.

Worth noting that Marquette hasn't won four straight Big East games since February 25 to March 9, 2013, when Marquette knocked off Syracuse and Notre Dame at the Bradley Center, then went on the road and beat Rutgers and St. John's to win the Big East.

We just need to pick up the defense intensity. It felt like MU defense was non - existent at some stretches of the game. Im  confident in the team now but i would be even more confident if we could pick up the defense

R-E-L-A-X only applies when you have a player like Aaron Rodgers.  MU does not have that player.  3-3 would be a good finish, and that puts MU in line for an NIT bid.  Progress, but not quite there yet.

amen426

Agree with the 4 straight.

Prior to this game I thought Gtown/Xavier (home) /St Johns / and Providence would be the 4 winnable games. Nothing has changed after the Butler loss - it's just eliminated any room for error.

Xavier at home with a week to prep is a better match up than Butler at home when Butler had a week to sit on B2B losses..

JJJ better show up vs. Georgetown. He called out their intensity after the first game in the post game interview. They will certainly be bringing their best on Saturday. It's about time JJJ brought his.

I would bet anything we are NOT winning at Georgetown. This is an incredibly flawed team that does one thing well: Hit threes. When the threes aren't falling there is no Plan B.

How were we any different in December when we beat Georgetown?

1. That game was at home.
2. First BE game so Gtown couldn't plan as well for us.
3. We are playing like crap and Gtown has been playing better lately.

I'm not expecting a win versus Georgetown.  Definitely doable though.

brewcity77

Georgetown is playing better? I suppose, maybe, but they have lost two in a row, 4 of 7, and two of the wins were DePaul and a reeling Creighton team that we also took advantage of. The Butler win notwithstanding, what has Georgetown done since beating Oregon in November to convince anyone they're playing better?

Someone yesterday, I think wades, pointed out that Butler was the best team left on the schedule. I'm not saying our backs aren't against the wall, they are, but we lost a toss up game. Really didn't change much other than needing one against X rather than it being a luxury.

1) It's not like we have a giant home court advantage, and neither does Georgetown.
2) Is there some rule against watching tape of non-conference play that I haven't heard of or...?
3) Georgetown just struggled to beat DePaul by 3 2 games ago while we took care of them by 12 (I believe).

Butler may have been the best team remaining on the schedule, but it wasn't the toughest game.

According to RPI Wizard, MU's odds of beating Butler were 51%. They have a 31% chance of winning at Xavier, 45% at Gtown and 49% vs Creighton. MU also has 54% chance at PC and 53% chance home vs Xavier. Got to win those near 50/50 games to go dancing.

And what have we done since beating Villanova.  Its two mediocre teams on life-support fighting for their NCAA tourney lives this Saturday.  Advantage to the home team.

Frenns Liquor Depot

Truth is we have had multiple opportunities this season to take control of our destiny by winning very 'winnable' games - win 2 of those and the season is in a completely different place.

- Pitt, Seton Hall 1, Butler 1, Providence 1, St Johns 1

I know people will argue differently but MI & WI could have been competitive as well - so opportunities lost.

I've kind of reached a breaking point with this team where no loss is surprising and I have less hope going into each game that we show up.  At this stage they need to gel again down (similiar to VU/Creighton week) to get me excited for next year.    So very relaxed.
