My five best of the past 30 years would probably be Dwyane Wade, Travis Diener, Lazar Hayward, Jae Crowder, and Jerel McNeal. Some went on to have better pro careers (JFB, Wes) but as far as collegiate players, those guys were all-timers for me.

First team:  Wade, Deiner, Lazar, Miller, McNeal
Second team:  Crowder, Novak, Wardle, Key, James
Third team:  Smith, Matthews, Butler, McIlvaine, Hutchins

EDIT:  The fact that you people are overlooking Tony Miller is borderline criminal.  Best point guard of the last 30 years.

And my opinion on Chris Crawford is that he doesn't belong on this list.  I'm not sure he ever made a all conference team.  The fact that he made the NBA is incredible, but I don't think his Marquette career was all that spectacular.

I was just saying look at everyone drafted, I wasn't implying he was all time great and I wasn't going to leave someone who was drafted off that list and be corrected that I forgot someone.

Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

To be fair, maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention too.

Not criminal, just terrible math. I was thinking he was longer ago than that.

Since he graduated I've always felt Novak has been underrated regarding his entire college career. He takes on more a cult hero status when he should be recognized as one of the five best players we've had in the past 30 years.

Lost beneath the medium sized triple double and RJax' dumping of Estill, if I recall correctly Novak hit four or five deep balls in that Kentucky game. And the exploits of his Senior season are rightly regarded as legendary in isolation but even when he was a Sophomore I believe he went off for 25 or 30 a couple of times (need a check on that).

His biggest contribution was 3 straight three's to open up OT against Mizzou in the 2nd round. The third he didn't even look at the hoop, just took the pass from Travis, turned and fired.

Or the best shooter in Marquette history!
