As part of the Plumlee trade, Steve Novak was released by the Bucks to make room for the inbound players.  If today was his last NBA day, we all wish him well.  If this allows him to spend even more time with our beloved alma mater, it's a win win.  Welcome home shooter.

TallTitan34

The Bulls don't have enough Marquette guys.

Da 'Lanche

I never  would have predicted he would be in the league so long...what a great achievement and that unbelievable stretch with the Knicks was magical...he does the University proud and hopefully keeps connected with the program.   After the win against Villanova he was celebrating pretty intensely with KR on the court after the game.   It was a good moment.    If this is it, congrats on a surprising yet fantastic journey in the league.

GooooMarquette

Coulda used him as shooting coach not long ago.

Who knows?  Some team in the playoff hunt might still want to add a deadeye shooter for the home stretch.

Galway Eagle

I know it was a joke and it's extremely unlikely but he actually would help on the Bulls. They need spacing and Novak is good at that plus he doesn't play defense and neither do the Bulls.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Marqevans

Can't we just call Novak and Diener grad transfers and just play them?

Does Novak miss ever?

The Bucks press release regarding trade said this was to make room in roster that there could be more trades, and expect to have him back in roster. Guess they might renegotiate contract?

He is 1-6 this season.

He's making the veterans minimum.

Geez 18,874, probably close to a true count too.  I know there were probably a couple more after that, but sadly I don't think that is happening again in Wisconsin for college bball.

I know they are saying 18k sold for X already, but we'll see.

Golden Avalanche

Since he graduated I've always felt Novak has been underrated regarding his entire college career. He takes on more a cult hero status when he should be recognized as one of the five best players we've had in the past 30 years.

Lost beneath the medium sized triple double and RJax' dumping of Estill, if I recall correctly Novak hit four or five deep balls in that Kentucky game. And the exploits of his Senior season are rightly regarded as legendary in isolation but even when he was a Sophomore I believe he went off for 25 or 30 a couple of times (need a check on that).

Don't know if I've heard a building louder than the BC after he hit that shot.

drewm88

Anyone have his highlights from our Big East debut against UConn?

5 best players in the past 30 years? Bro even if we just go off players that were drafted I'm not sure he's top 5 as that group includes Tony Smith, Jimmy Mac, Amal Mccaskill, Chris Crawford, D Wade, Travis Deiner, Lazar Hayward, Jimmy Butler, DJO, Jae Crowder. Not to mention the undrafted stars like Dom James, Jerel McNeal, Wes Matthew, Davante Gardner.

But go ahead and rank them, maybe I'm showing too much love to the two all time scorers or the 90s guys.

best 5 out of that group is a reasonable argument to make.  not a sure thing but it's not crazy.  Gardner vs Novak by the way HAHAHA

Sadly, Alabama.  But other than the FT vs. Cincy, that's the only memory I have of him missing.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

My five best of the past 30 years would probably be Dwyane Wade, Travis Diener, Lazar Hayward, Jae Crowder, and Jerel McNeal. Some went on to have better pro careers (JFB, Wes) but as far as collegiate players, those guys were all-timers for me.

Butler, Wade, Crowder, Matthews are definitely the top 4.....

An argument could be made about Novak being 5th......

Tony Smith and Chris Crawford are in that conversation.....

This is an after college career forward thing......

Novak winning the 3 point competition is his biggest NCAA accomplishment and his biggest "storyline" was his tryout for San Antonio where he made 86 of 100 3's ......college the 41 vs. UConn in MU's first Big East game....

Also I am assuming 30 years can not include Doc......

PS.....By the way.....I know a lot of you guys are younger here......DOC jumped over Dr. Dunkenstein.....AkA.....Darryl Griffith from Louisville in the Mecca.....yes .....over.....yes....legs over his head while he was standing there.....not to mention the N.D. shot from quarter court to win the game by 1 as time ran out.....

Eldon

I loved Novak's time on the Knicks.

So bad ass

If you're talking collegiate, I don't think you can remotely put Jimmy or Wes in there. Both had some good years, but taking their college career as a whole, Lazar and McNeal have to be ahead of them.

If you're talking post-Marquette career, sure, but not for what they strictly did at Marquette.
